Re: Diablo 3 Official!!!

Post by Off-The-Chart »

yeah, it seems like if I have something like an item giving me 10% chance of getting magical items, it is split between every1 in party.

the only items I anyway would wear that have that attribute, would be something like rings. the other stuff would be more focused on damage.

lol, don't think I will be doing hardcore mode anytime soon :)

and I quickly logged in to get update and now my Barb and Monk are sitting with items that require higher levels :(

they're also sitting with skills they shouldn't have

vendor prices have experienced some serious inflation

hardcore, by all accounts, isn't actually working yet... still dying to give it a bash

@RRF: the rumour-mill says "soon"... but then they've been saying "soon" for some time now.... :| there has been a flurry of trimming going on in the "nice-to-have-but-non-essential" content so that's positive.. means they're gearing up for something 8)

@GreyWolf: not quite.... infinitely more engaging.. (to be fair, i only played WoW for 2 months off and on but no way it grabbed my attention like this...)

the beta doesn't actually deal with much of the story.. or the content...

intentionally so, i believe. no risk of spoilers and the testers still get to play the completed game from scratch without feeling jaded...

what little we have seen is enough to convince me it's a worthwhile buy... 8)

now I just want them to tweak that damn Wizard.

played a co-op with a guy as Wizard and my Monk couldn't do squat.

I was like more of a "looter" than anything else cause as I would get to the mob, they'd be dead from 1 blast from the Wizard.

By digital i assume you speak of where you pay for it, then download? (like steam) I'm getting it on a DVD though.

I think its global, not 100% sure though.

Taking a second wife already? Look, I know that you live in KZN, but....

 Perhaps I should have given it to you to try out: you are more likely to buy the game as soon as it is released.

Do you have any friends or acquaintances who won a beta key and who wouldn't mind having you over to try the game.

I was keen to play this but I have just heard it is a point and click - is that true? Like Sam and Max?

I will google but it sounds so dated - but you make a valid point. What came to mind were these Hidden object games. Really hoping it isn't like that. Myst was also like that - very frustrating moving around.

The trailer looks really cool though

in the HIDDEN OBJECTS category, Diablo has it, but it in no means will affect the main "story" of the game... so to speak

ie. there are stuff like LOOSE STONE in the ground that you may not always get, but it won't affect anything in a major way.

the play through is pretty straight forward but on your quests, you may always come upon something as a "detour" and in many cases you can obviously do it or skip it.

EDIT: k so just watched a video of MYST, and unless I was watching the wrong videos, then no it is nothing like that.

Hahahaha, that was a good lol...referring Diablo 3 to a Hidden Object game...it has some relevance, but it is a much more brutal version of finding the objects...

Er... allow the nerds to do the explaining, okay? :P

Tribble, Sam & Max is a point & click adventure game. A lot of the core gameplay revolves around solving puzzles, and that's why you pixel hunt for clues and scan environments for objects. It's slow but satisfying.

Diablo on the other hand, is a dungeon crawler and the core gameplay is combat. the clickclickclickclickclick happens because you're causing pain, and then looting bodies. It is frantic. The perspective you take means you don't really use keys to move your character around, intsead you use the mouse and that results in more clickclickclick. Kinda like moving units around in Starcraft.

That's probably what you read about :)
