It doesn't matter. Any connection should do and it should be immune to telkom. By that I mean when there is 2000ms lag the game must still run like a dream.
I quite enjoyed the write up about how just about all content is server generated. If thats the case and if D3 becomes the best selling game at launch can you imagine the huge amount of lag that will occur when all those gamers start exploring? All the maps randomly generated, dungeons randomly generated, character saves all on the server. All this happening within the first hours of launch that means huge server lag. I am curious to see how Blizzard handles all of this on top of WoW. BTW Can a WoW player clarify something for me? Are the WoW maps, dungeons static or randomly generated? Also curious to see how much of a dent D3 will have in WoW players.
/This is going to be a interesting launch but not because of the obvious reason...
JUSTICE, n A commodity which is a more or less adulterated condition the State sells to the citizen as a reward for his allegiance, taxes and personal service.
WoW is a static world, static dungeons/raids/instances. The only time something changes is when you phase the zone but the results are also static. Eg Do quest part 1 where you kill bandit leader A. Then turn in and when you go back to the zone where A was killed the building is now torn appart and jazz like that.
Diablo 3 is not that randomly generated as everyone thinks. A dungeon is built from 80 prebuilt sets then randomly picked to make the dungeon. Even Diablo 2 had noticeable pre-sets.
Diablo 3 should not dent the WoW community. Most of the WoW players doesn't even know what diablo 2 was. Many of them don't even know WoW use to be an RTS. Speaking of which its been 10 years this year since the last proper Warcraft game. Just shows how bad WoW has actually been on games from Blizzard.
I have no doubt Diablo 3 will be an success but I still want to see what will happen when Torchlight 2 is release with everything that was expected from Blizzard.
Even when GW2 gets released we will see how WoW and SWTOR is affected. This year is going to be the end of many things.
No date yet, but stay a while and lis- guys? Guys? Can you hear me?
If you’re planning on playing Diablo 3 with your buddies, you’ve got two important things to think about – which three friends you’re going to party up with, and how you’re going to squabble over all the bits of loot.
Blizzard community manager Bashiok (just Bashiok) sat down in front of Twitter yesterday to answer fans’ questions about Diablo 3, and confirmed that the game would support up to four players in co-op (with “no plans” to increase that number), but wouldn’t include in-game voice chat at launch.
“There is no built in voice chat, at least not for ship,” he said. “If we try voice chat in another game we want to make sure it’s worth using.”
Bashiok also dropped the soon-to-be-totally-controversial news that, in terms of visuals, what you see in the beta is what you’re getting in the game. “We could add an Ultra setting if you’d like, but it wouldn’t be any different,” he said.
Nope, still no launch date.
You can read the complete transcript at the link below, but there’s probably nothing much you don’t already know about.
And we are waiting for so long because ... ? Oh well some more proof that this game has been built for the console market...

I signed for the Guild Wars 2 beta. I will be internetless for a while it seems. Telkom doesn't have enough ports in their exchange to where I am moving. Next problem is that I need internet for work ontop of needing internet for steam and origin.

well, it may not allow simultaneous account usage, but that can surely be avoided by arranging who plays when.
will see tonight since I am already going to share with 2 other peeps.
1 will be playing tonight so will see if it does give any problems relating account usage.
just a heads up: the client is 45MB and then upon installation there is an initial 4Gig download.
also, the launcher screen when you still in the installation phase is quite problematic so just be patient

Will take me +- 4 days just to download the damned thing... Write it to disc and mail me?

think if I write folder just like that it would work?
if it will, then no hassles. can post it tomorrow.
unfortunately I didn't bother to see if it downloads an initial single file before extracting/installing.
otherwise would have obviously put that on disc.
/Wonder if I could get a test game in before my dinner date with the puppy next week Friday...

@Molean Its more a case of I want to test the beta to see if it is any good before I buy it . So far from what I have seen I am not impressed but I am hoping a demo run would convince me otherwise. I really, really, really hope they come up with some magic code to sort out lag issues...

Easily. Lets say I can clock 200mb every 10minutes, after 2 hours I would have downloaded 2gb, from then on I might get 1gb an hour though. Capped accounts run at full speed till they go /poof while uncapped is full speed til 3gb then -50%, till 10gb then -50% again and finally 15gb -50% another time. After the 15gb however expect to sometimes see isdn speeds with traditional dsl latencies.
