i hate to disagree but the QTE rubbish, inventory and auto-lock issues that plague witcher 2 all scream console, not PC... especially the inventory system... that thing's a criminal attempt at functionality...

nothing in diablo lends itself to consoles more than an untapped $$$$-donkey chock full of dimbulbs who will happily spend 3 times the value on an identical PC title... ie, console gamers make the best schmucks...

Understand this. If they do it right on console and it feels natural on it with less restrictions then that is where I will be getting it. My issue though is I use my mouse to scroll thru my spells and either left or right click to use them. I don't see spell tabbing on a console unless L1 and R1 are the assigned things and using the analog to attack makes sense but its highly inaccurate. Maybe at the closest target or highest/lowest hp target as auto lock then it can work. That is how spells used to work on the psx version of diablo.

At the end of the day it will all depend on how blizzard implements it. And I actually have to say the restriction of having to update then log into a game and revert to a campaign screen due to save incompatibility has killed SC2 for me.

Toms hardware play1. And there you have it. The only complaint ...internet required. I don't know if blizzard is catching the hint. But I feel that if they want to use the AH do the following: Make the game be able to run offline, if your planning on selling stuff make the game required that your loot be generated from blizzards side with an item ID generated by battle.net and be online for it. That way items are still sold thru blizzard but they have the benefit that players are happy.

I honestly don't think that being online-only is enough of an inconvenience to deter most people from playing this game.

And what is to say the console version wont be online-only anyway :?:

Nothing but generally console skips the "must have internet" to play part. So the grass is more likely to be greener on the console side even if its less detailed :P

you're forgetting the "blizzard gets their cut of every trade" part... they're looking to protect their profit margin. this means they own every piece of the in-game inventory to control hacks... which requires 100% online all the time regardless of platform...

That may be but as I said split them into the allowable battle.net always online characters that has access to auctions and item selling vs offline chars that can trade but not use the auction house.

The other thing to take into account is if they go console they are set on either Microsofts or Sony's network and Sony is much more leanient than MS. Opening up your network allows cross platform play and thats something MS won't allow since PSN is free when it comes to multiplayer when XBL is paid for for doing the same thing.

Seeing Diablo 3 in this light makes me think it will come to PS3 first before they will head over to 360. And while we know its in the past whats gonna happen when you can't play Diablo 3 on PS3 due to a network outage? They can do the same as Valve and make it a package deal where you get Diablo 3 for PS3 with a linked PC download to that account.

Take a look at the release schedule for March 2012 of http://www.btgames.co.za
I wonder how accurate that is?

The wait is really killing me. Looking up the latest news almost daily.

I know Blizzard produces some of the best games, ever. But the long release cycles is really draggin me down. "Heart of the swarm" anybody.

The online only is really a drag, I want the option of playing LAN with friends without the need for an Internet. Call me old fashioned, but still prefer a LAN to online play, just so much more satisfying and the interaction is much better.

Did you guys see the trailer released at Blizzcon 2011.

Detail is amazing, a true testament for Blizzard and their quality CGI clips.
Do a quick google to find clip.

The baddy this time around doesn't look so bad as as the original Diablo. The only scarry creatures were some monstrously big creature found in the latter part of clip.

 (Point to Ponder) Wonder if they will release another expansion with more classes at a later stage.

Also, not sure why they had to create new classes. :?: Diablo's 2 + LOD classes were excellent, they could just have done a refresh of these.

Seems to be a general trend, even Torchlight 2 has new classes. Maybe scared that we don't think of it as a completely new game. Speaking of which, need to check Torchlight 2 release date again.

Later.

Torchlight 2 is set for release sometime in December 2011. It will support LAN and Internet play. 4 Classes as male and female I believe. The game will digitally retail for $20. I'll be buying mine from steam as soon as it releases. And if you really must do it to your game it will be modable.

Well you can get Diablo 3 for free by just playing WoW... Blizzard has announced that by undergoing a 12 month subscription (and paying monthly for the game time) they will give away Diablo 3 for free to you. This offer includes a WoW mount as well..

I really hope they bring an expansion with some more classes. They really need a Paladin class. It is a must have when you have good fighting evil .

The thing is I'm not playing wow anymore and just seeing them doing it like that makes me a bit cautious. Is blizzard really loosing that many players from wow that they are "giving" away diablo 3 for "free"? Besides I'm in it for the collectors edition content.

Can't say they are losing that may players. Do yourself a fav and have a look at the next expansion. Bound to be fun... I know... I know... kung-fu panda's does not sound like a great idea but humour me. It could be interesting. Also they are taking the whole thing back to a taste of vanilla WoW in terms of the type of encounters and the story lines behind it. Could be fun.

@Star I now only want to buy Diablo 3 for the Collectors . Morals or shiny stuff, its such a hard choice...

Just to clarify, from what I gathered they will only be "giving" Diablo III to WOW players with accounts registered before they made the announcement of the giveaway incentive and only then when committing to a yearlong WOW pass.

But do you need to make it at their rate or can you like buy game cards and smack those there? I do believe you need a credit card and it is at the monthly rate so you are paying more for it than if you would sub for a year at the lowest rate.

And yes the collectors edition sold it for me. I was and still am sceptical on how diablo 3 will run for us but the collectors goodies are nice to have.

I did get the vanilla vibe from the mists trailer. The biggest point out in it was there is no "old" or main villian to kill this time around so hopefully it will be like vanilla in the sence that everything was new and fresh until KT made his appearance with Naxx. Also youtubed a few vids for ashbringer and found an exploit vid that showed that Naxx was originally one of those instanced raids like MC and BWL and that it was connected to Stratholm thru that gate where all the mobs poured out from near the slaughter house.

the subscription does a monthly deduction on your credit card. it is basically a 3 month game card / 3 or some such... you should be budgeting for it in any case. It actually works out cheaper than buying time cards.

Ye no main boss as it actually focuses on the Horde vs Alliance battle again.

I still feel that cataclysm was a mistake. The world needed to be redone but they should have said "Wrath is the end. WoW2 will start off as cataclysm with Azeroth redone."

lvl1-60 is fine but lvl60-80 is tbc and wrath which no longer properly ties in. Cataclysm should have either start reclaiming and reforming outland and wrath as both the legion and the scourge have been defeated. So terretories should have started recovering like the plague lands did.

World of Warcrafts world has just become too big to be remade with every patch or expansion and walking into 4 year old zones does kill the entire continueity feel of it.
