Surely this should be more? Something aint right.

dammod scored more. So a stock Gigabyte outperforms an overclocked BFG? WTF? I don't believe that.

@ WiKid @ Molean : Is your S-ATA drives also reported as additional IDE's in BIOS? Because mine is, revision 18, and there is no "Enhanced mode" option anywhere, only "Enabled" and "Disabled" and everything is enabled. I also used the latest revision 1.05 install disk.

3DMark05 list it as IDE as well...

Advise needed please...
Hey Rayne. The scores that Dammod is getting is not with stock speeds. Did you read the thread "Is my 7800GTX okay" where he stated what his core and memory speeds are read as. I spoke to soooo many ppl with a 7800GTX and the stock scores for a stock standard 430 core 1200 memory clocked 7800GTX is 7600 or so in 3DMark05. I clocked my 4000+ up to 2.75Ghz, with the memory running DDR450 2 2 2 5 T1 and the card clocked at 450 and 1300 respectively, and I got this:

Image

I mean ppl getting 8400 to 8600 clock their cores up to 500 and more. Check the ORB and see for yourself. So Dammod either has some extra hidden texture pipelines somewhere or he was simply overclocking the card. What was the core speed and memory speed of your card?

Thanks Voodoo.

So your saying my score is ok then...

The BFG default core is 460Mhz and memory 1300Mhz.

I used the newest nVidia 81.95, deafault, on a fresh flawless install.

I still think there's something wrong with my HDD transfers though, will look around the web for that over the weekend. Though I doub't there can be, since the BIOS is very straight forward, either enable or disable, no sub-sections.

Device Manager says it's optimized for performance and write-caching, but also says it's driven by a Windows driver? Should it not be the nVidia storage controller (1.05) I loaded (F6) during install?

The RAM timings is correct, though I had to set it manual, "Auto" and SPD got it wrong.

The pc is very responsive, I just think I can get a little more out of 3DMark05...

No ways I can let dammod beat me twice!

Sure dude...I'm sure you can get much more out of that system...within the limits as you would do. But really a nice setup you got there. Oh my score there is also with the 81.95 drivers, and my card is an ASUS 7800GTX. I'm really impressed with the cards game performance, like FEAR and some other new ones.

well dammod must have a nice 7800 model, because Ive seen some reviews of the Gigabyte 7800 and some models does get higher scores on stock and some gets higher clock speeds.

so I think if you have a good core, your lucky.

Well, MrBean said BFG cores are handpicked and he actually exchanged his Gigabyte for another BFG if I got it correct. I based my decision on his and simmilar experiences I browsed accross before buying one, so I feel secure in knowing I do, or should, have a decent core.

I aint overclocking this baby just yet, ooh noo, maybe next year if I get watercooling and a new case I'll push it to the boundary of hell.

For now I have a lot of gaming to do (last played almost 2 months ago) and as long as I can do it as hassle-free as possible I'm happy.

NB!

WiKid, Molean, solo and MrBean please confirm the Fatal1ty's S-ATA options if you guys don't mind please, seeing you all either have the same board or have played with it.

I'm running BIOS 18.

Thanks!

Hey, guys! Sorry, I forgot to update! That score was with my 7800GTX at 480/1250, if I set it to stock then i get just under 8000. I rate as Nerevar said, I might have a good core because I had it at those speeds for a few weeks and played games like that! LOL!

Rayne, I find it stange that my card was 10mhz lower in the core and 50mhz lower on the mem and i get this: http://www.overclocking.co.za/index.htm ... 20Top%2010 ............8487..........what is the specs or ur whole system. I think ill try clock my card to 460/1300 now and c what i get....I have a new VANTEC pci card so it should help. But ill keep a close eye on my temps.

ENJOY YOUR NEW CARD BTW!!!

Gents,
As mentioned before, with stock gigabyte gtx, and fx55 pushing it, I scored around 8000 in 3dM05.

Not optimized at all.

With BFG card, I am getting around 8300-8400, if I remembered correctly. So, those scores are spot-on.

Going from 460 to 480 will take you to around 8500-8600. It is a very hectic score for a single card stock, as SLi 6800U's will take you to a tad over 9500-9700 stock with same cpu.

If you want to overclock these cards, use good cooling though. BFG's are using handpicked cores, so they generally run a few degrees cooler as the Gigabyte for example, even though Gigabyte clocked 30mHz lower on gpu

Hope this calms some nerves :)

I got the GTX last weekend...... And Slagter asked me if I wanted to sell the old card....so I agreed so he's got the card. What can I say.....I've always loved Nvidia.......but I had lots of fun with the ATI card as well. Would not mind getting my hands dirty with an X1800XT or even more so the 7800GTX512.....but right now, my poor CPU is struggling to keep up with the card. I won't say the CPU is a bottle neck, but it's not like an open highway for the card either....

Very, very nice score. That with alot of tweaking right? What did you do to get so high? What are your exact system specs?

I got this with no tweaking but quite a bit of OCing: http://img530.imageshack.us/img530/2539 ... gtx6dh.jpg
I was a perfect night tonight...nice and cold. I opened up all the windows and took the side cover of my case off. My idle temp on my VGA was 38 degrees!!!!

No tweaking Dammod. That score was with my cpu clocked at a avarage 2.75Ghz, and the clocks for the GFX was 480 and 650 for the memory. NO TWEAKS.....

The score you got is not bad. The other thing that helped me a bit, is my system memory was running at 225 with 2 2 2 5 T1 timings, so effectively DDR450, and my cpu was clocked a little bit higher.
