And this also worries me a bit, care to comment, taken of the official BF3 blog -
Recommended system requirements for Battlefield 3

OS: Windows 7 64-bit
Processor: Quad-core Intel or AMD CPU
RAM: 4GB
Graphics card: DirectX 11 Nvidia or AMD ATI card, Nvidia GeForce GTX 560 or ATI Radeon 6950.
Graphics card memory: 1 GB
Sound card: DirectX compatibl sound card
Hard drive: 15 GB for disc version or 10 GB for digital version
I've got a 5770 1GB GPU, does this mean i will have to run the game on minimum?

This looks like the new crysis whem it comes to requirements
no, those min requirements are a bit misleading and bf3 does appear to scale very well. I have a GTS450 and I run the game in ultra at 1600x900 and it runs smoothly. As for the internet connection, I have not tried to play online yet so I would not know.

//btw you will want to have more then 2gb RAM or the game will start sticking when it does autosaves :(

Tell me, it's been mentioned that the single player is short, how short are we talking about?

This is why I am not playing the single player aspect of the game...

Battlefield 3 has a single-player campaign... unfortunately
By Ben Kuchera | Published 8 days ago

The Battlefield series isn't just another war game franchise that's trying to compete with the first-person shooter Call of Duty; it's a series that offers an experience that's utterly distinct from Activision's testosterone-drenched celebration of war. The multiplayer in Battlefield places an emphasis on teamwork, communication, and vehicles, and this combination has appealed to those who don't care for the alpha-male play of Call of Duty.

The single-player campaign in a Battlefield title would ideally focus on what the game does differently from its main competitor, but DICE seemed content to simply steal everything it could from the Call of Duty series, placing it all in an engine that will take advantage of every bit of power your PC can throw at it. It may be pretty to look at, but it's an utterly hollow experience.

I agree. The game does feel like there is something missing. And I see they copied the Call of duty black ops method of telling the story. But it does look good and some of the fighting is quite exciting.

The multilayer is supposed to be good, but have not tried that out yet.

Meh.

In that case I'm not going to buy it, priority for me is single player as I don't get to play on-line much.

Luckily Skyrim is around the corner.

I do to. But that is most likely because I run around trying to stab people and put sticky bombs on them.

But I do occasionally have a decent sniping spree

I suck most of the time as well, but it's just so much fun.

I do accasionally get a good couple of games, but then it's time to quit.

My knifes been failing me a lot lately. Get in close for the kill and then my soldier just starts to remove the other guys belt or shirt buttons. All that gets you is shot in the face.

This is embarrasing to say but it gives you the idea of how bad I am...

I jumped into a 64 player game, level was newly loaded and ... I got no kills whatsoever... :( I suck at sniping so I am generally the Assault or Engineer type...

Nick on BF3 is the same as here Anakha56, not sure if BF3 has public profiles or not... :?

Some matches are better than others. This isn't cod where its all about you. This is battlefield where the focus is you helping your team to achieve victory.

I love the assault class being the medic. I would semi be into fire fights but mainly I hold back and swoop in for defib revives. Operation Metro is one of the better foot soldier maps. The market place with the alley has seen my blood dozens of times.

One issue I have found with the single-player is that it will crash randomly. The game will freeze, the HDD activity light will stay on and the sound will disappear and then it will crash to the desktop and say:"Battlefield 3 has stopped working......" . At first I though it must be my PC but then I read that lots of people were having this problem and the only way to fix it is to wait for a patch to come along :x

Happened to me a couple of times. I guess you should not try and knife from the front, but rather from the back.....ok, that just sounds weird, but yeah.

I find it much easier to score points in BF3 than in BC2. On avg I score at least 3000 points on every map playing the Engineer or Assault plus my K/D ratio is in the plus 99% of the time.

I score most of my points capturing flags and disabling enemy vehicles. But if you want to rank up fast, you have to forget about your K/D ratio and get into the thick of things. Hanging back and playing it safe is not going to give up a lot of points.

I unlocked the M416 yesterday and that is by far the best weapon to shoot with. High fire rate and good stopping power. Close courter combat with that always yields points and kills.

Fav maps so far:

Tehran Highway
Operation Metro
Seine Crossing

Fav games:

Conquest
Rush

"hefty" by our standards or "hefty" by US standards? Because my definition of hefty goes from 500mb up. US might say anything from 2gb to 5gb.

I was pretty peeved last night!!!

Booted up the pc, and origin started the download. Watched some telly, played some Angry Birds and then the download was finished and installed.

Opened up Battlelog, sign in and........wait.......wait......wait....and eventually nothing loads! I can get into the page, but my stats don't load (gets stuck on "loading") and I cannot join any server.

The web page gets stuck in a infinite loading loop and from there I cannot do anything. I cannot set my server filters nothing.

I though hell no. Browsed the net to check if there was similar problems. Nada.
Then decided to re-install my Game Manager plug ins and delete all my browsing history/cookies/cache and whatnot. Voila. Working.

Did not play then as I ran out of time, but will check what difference the patch makes to my gameplay.

:?: :?:

The first one just after installing the game was 500MB. The one that was released yesterday (the one I'm referring to) was 483MB. There aren't any other ones.

I am just loving this game.
Luckily I have a uncapped 4meg line :D so the updates does not bother me much.
After the update I must admit that the initial loading of the maps takes FOREVER .. but after you have successfully joined a server, it is smooth sailing from there.
The random crashes is also a thing of the past for me ( well after a couple hours last night).

I do love how they changed the squad screen enabling you to much easier join squads with mates. This is a team based game after all. I have noticed, the times that I just RUN and GUN COD style, I get very little points. When I work in a team, I score BIG.

PS. looking for some more people to play with, add me on the game if you wanna ( not sure if this is allowed on the forum, but taking a chance ) PhReaK2007
