If you have an i7 I see no reason to switch other than ePenis envy...

Seriously, there is no software, app or game out there that even a 1st gen i7 920 cannot comfortably handle with a decent mobo, RAM and HDD backing it up.

I may consider upgrading at the end of the year, but I'm still pretty happy with the performance of of my Q9550 and if that is still the case then, I'll put it off a while longer still.

The performance limiter for me at this point is my 280GTX, not my 2 generation old CPU

Same boat here.
I am actually quite pissed off now
FUUUU
The comments for your order are
Hi,We have received word from Intel that all Intel P and H67 motherboards are to be returned as there is a problem with the SATA control on these boards. Therefore all orders with these motherboards have been put on hold.

The replacement motherboards will only be arriving in SA towards the end of Feb (at the soonest) but mid March is more likely.

I'm kinda in the same boat as you Slim... I bought my mobo and ram already... and was gonna get the CPU this week...

I reckon I am gonna wait now until April, get a new mobo, and then get the CPU... In the meantime, I will focus on getting the new chassis, and PSU so that the new rig will be complete in April...

Here's hoping there aren't any more bad suprises...

By the by... Intel will be releasing a newer chipset in Q4 this year, which is rumored to rival this 'new' generation... so it may even be worth waiting till then...

i just posted in "post your rig" i guess it should actually be here! anyway i just paid for the last of my sandybridge rig. im gonna be building it up next weekend. and i might as well ask this question thats been bugging me.

i ordered a zalman Z9 plus case, has anybody heard of any issues with it? i got a feeling prophecy dont have it in stock.because they alternate between saying its in stock then out of stock every few days so i dont know what their story is. but IF its outta stock i was looking at getting a cm storm scout. those cases look pretty good. what do you guys think?

Been running the i5-2400 now for almost a month. In hindsight I can kick myself for not going for the i5-2500k, not that there is anything wrong with the 2400.

Slim, I've also been looking at the Zalman Z9 Plus and have only read good reviews about it. My current dilemma is choosing between the Z9 and the Cooler Master RC690ii Advanced. Will probably settle this with the toss of a coin...

Is there that much of a need for the 2500K? If you sold me your 2500 and bought a 2500K then you would have a K edition and I would have a SB

the z9 plus looks awesome and its really cheap but i got a funny feeling its dicontinued because its not all that popular and none of the sa online retailers have them in stock. the cm 690ll advanced is a good case,a friend has one, and its got everything you would ever need.

It might just be that they are awaiting new stock. If I'm not mistaken the Z9 was only released last year so I doubt they will already discontinue it then again it might be that they stopped importing them due to a lack of demand/sales...
