What? The D500? In my opinion you should just get a different phone! I was playing around with a friend's D500 the other day, and (no offense to Samsung lovers - it's my own opinion), it sux! I got bored of it after literally 5 minutes. Go for it only if you want to look cool.

Hey guys! I am from Autopage Tygervalley and IMO the D500 is a fantastic phone. I am planning on getting one with my next upgrade (May 2005). The only problems I had with it was that it does not have the data cable included and that there is no radio, otherwise it is a wonderful phone

I would moan non stop till i could get it for free, hell you should be paying less to continue your contract

Vodacom has a special on right now, s700i on weekender everyday for R89 per month for 24 months. Not bad i would say

I hate AutoPage! Just about every other service provider offers the bloody thing free on a W/End Everyday upgrade. The high and mighty AutoPage won't budge from their R299.00. If I could keep my number i'd tell them where to stick there fantastic offer. Now i have to wait until AutoPage DOES offer the D500 free, by which time, other providers will probably be offering the D600 free. :crazy:

I have decided to rather get the Nokia 6230i. btw there is a network bill being past soon that will allow you to upgrade anywhere you like. Even if you are an Autopage client. btw if you want the D500 on MTN My Call you pay R89pm

Is the 6230i better than the D500? I see that you can expand the 6230i's memory, but the camera has no flash...

Finally Autopage has agreed to give me the phone free on an upgrade. About time too, it R99 for the first year elsewhere! If only I could ditch my number...

my 6230 with 256mb makes a nice mp3 player and fone

My D500 might not have expandable memory (which limits how many MP3's I can load up), but that's what a Pocket PC and a 512MB SD Card are for...

Ahem... Or a decent Sony Ericsson phone... Wink, wink!

Hey guys, i want to get me a D500 but i cant go on contract, im not working at the moment, still studying. So i hav to get PrePaid. Does anyone know of a shop where they sell them?? I hav about R3200 to spend.

Vodaworld(Midrand) sells D500's for about R3100 if you live close to it.

Hey guys, I wanna buy a phone, cant decide between the Motorola E1000, Samsung D500 and the Sony Ericsson S700i. If any of u may hav some advice for me, it would be greatly appreciated.

Take the S700i!!

I got myself one and I got to say, I love it. Much better than the D500 (I have friends with it). It has expandable memory, and it has a 240x320 screen!

Although if you want a small phone, rather get a D500. If you want a phone that can take GREAT photos get the S700i (The D500 is about the size of the S700i's screen!)

A D500 is a good overall phone. Battery life sucks though, I get 3 days max! I don't know too much about the S700i but I guess it's a good choice. Don't get it just because of the fact it takes GREAT photos. For that you can get a digital camera

Can anyone help me with resetting a D500 completely? Everytime I try go into the calender section, the phone goes blank, and 'reboots'. I'm hoping if I can find a way to clear the phone memory and reset everything, it will work again. Any help appreciated!!

Try the forums at http://www.zedge.no they have a Samsung section and I recall seeing a post with some codes for the D500 there. Hope it helps.

Jus i sent my fone to get the software re-installed with my service provider.

It was a huge pain in the a$$.

Exactly. A phone with a built-in camera is more of a convenient 'toy' to me than anything else. If I want to take proper photo's, I use my Photosmart 945.

I find the battery life on my D500 average. I also get about 3-4 days between charges (that's with not playing music, messing around with the camera, etc), but that's alright in my eyes, given the features a D500 has. At least it's way better than my MPx200 was, which only gave me a max of 2 days between charges (even with very light usage!).
