An engine is an engine. A pc is a pc, not a dog. The engine can be lightly altered but the core remains the same.Neon948 wrote:Well we will see if the graphics of the new source engine is better then the old source engine.
They will be alike but there will my some graphics improvments.
If you don't belive me get a copy of PCF UK no. 196, page 55.

Yes I know that, all I was saying is that it will have better graphics then HL2 and CSS.I34z1k wrote:An engine is an engine. A pc is a pc, not a dog. But yes the core will still be the same with small changes, but small changes can make a big diffrence when you have been playing on the same engine for so long.

I agree with DAE, there is only one source engine, anything that gets done to it is pretty much an improvement, unless of course they do something drastic like what made the HL engine. You couldn't exactly call that an improvement over the Quake 2 engine, more like a complete rewrite, though it still spawned a new engine! However minor things like the addition of HDR are improvements and doesn't warrant it being called a new engine?Neon948 wrote:Well we will see if the graphics of the new source engine is better then the old source engine.

I never called it a new engine.
Think of it as a source engine with a boost.
Anyway Source engine from Left 4 Dead will mean the end of the road for some graphics cards that worked with the orignal Source engine.

Thanks I siad that so people could tell the diffrence between the NEW Source engine(With the small changes) and the OLD Source engine(The current engine with no changes)DAE_JA_VOO wrote:ROFL.
No no. I know now exactly what he means (unless he really does believe it's a new engine, like he said).
I'm not looking for a flame, i'm just correcting
I meant New as in the new Source engine with the small changes.
This what it would have sounded like if a hadn't done that.
Well we will see if the graphics of the source engine is better then the old source engine.
It just sound better thats all.
Now can we start talking about Left 4 Dead.

I'm sure my 6600GT will handle it just fine, I've run HL2 on MAX with no problems.Doomextreme wrote:Crap so you mean now even the source engine is going to be powerful... damn I need to upgrade... ASAP!!!
I already have Half-Life Platinum (HL1, Opposing Force, Team Fortress, Counter-Strike, Doesn't have Blue Shift) just needed Half-Life 2, so I decided to get the Collectors Edition, but needless to say I think I got screwed over!Neon948 wrote:Why don't get the Valve Complete Pack?Xiphan wrote:If I ever get my HL2 Collector's Edition? For those of you eagerly awaiting the release of Left 4 Dead you might want to consider giving Killing Floor for UT2k4 a go.
Killing Floor is a Total Conversion of the Unreal Tournament 2004 game. Playing as a squad of marines, you must use firepower and teamwork to drive back massive hordes of bloodthirsty zombies.
Killing Floor features some of the most detailed and atmospheric environments you will see in a horror themed mod, and the objective is to make something that is not only visually pleasing, but also rewarding and fun from a gameplay standpoint.
