Which CPU Cooler?
which one? The modded one, or my stock one?
His one is kewl, cos it is powdercoated inside.. but it needs a bit of work, cos he made a hole for his reserviour (spelling), and I dont have that reserviour, so I need to do something else. It is a sweet case!! I cant wait to get time to do something with it...

Thank you for the input. ![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
[thanks for the hyperlinks, W1k1d....I didn't click on your sig.]
I must say that I am surprised to see the VapoChill
Micro listed....the review I read of it was not that favourable....but then the reviewer IS comparing it to the mighty [but unwieldy] Thermaltake Big Typhoon.

the Zalman seems to do the trick although they seem to go for about R600.00. I've got one and the CPU seems pretty cool and happy.

Not at all...supertwit wrote:Sorry for the possible hijack of your thread, riaandp.
The thread title DOES look as though it might accomodate further discussion of CPU-Cooling, so I thought I might give it a try.
Recently I saw the Thermal SubZero4G Peltier Cooler on offer at a local e-tailer.
What I would like to know is whether any of you have tried this type of cooling solution, how well it works, whether it is worth the hassle involved in setting it up and how it compares to some of the better air-coolers mentioned above.
Thanks
This is free to use for anyone...

Not entirely. The Big Typhoon outperforms it and at a quieter noise lever, although the difference is minor. There are also other heatsinks which aren't available locally that do a better job, such as the Scythe Ninja and some of the Aerocool coolers.Iceblade wrote:Yes this is currently the best CPU air cooler available![]()

I enabled the bios "quick 'n Cool" which throttles the CPU fan. Make life a lot quieter and CPU runs about 42 under load, although I've not tested it specifically for temp.

Oh okay, i see. Yeah, lower temps are certainly possible with many air coolers, it's just a matter of how quiet you want it to be. Nevertheless, 34 degrees is amazing.Rayne wrote:My impression as well, though you get used to it.
It's not that quiet however. Constantly spinning at 2600rpm.
That guy that used to mod cases. Now I take photos. True story.

The first three positions are very close to each other, but two leaders are obvious: Zalman CNPS9500 LED and Scythe Ninja . The position of the CNPS9500 LED is rather ambiguous – if you increase its fan speed to the maximum of 2600rpm, this cooler will probably become an absolute leader
the Thermaltake Big Typhoon may become one of the best coolers available. In its current state, however, it only takes the third place.

I'm kinda neet when it comes to my personal pc ja. I abuse the office rigs. You'll be impressed with my file & folder system then.DAE_JA_VOO wrote:Wow, such a clean desktop.... i haven't seen such neatness on my desktop in ages....

Something I always wondered about is why top geeks like Microsoft can't name files decently?
