With reference to my post at the top of the page... would you guys believe that simply giving my CPU's HSF a good dusting off has reduced my idle temp to 38-39? :?

Prescott 3.2ghz with EM64T

Idle @ 55 degrees
Load @ 62 degrees

Seems high compared to all the others but performs extremely well, i think the prescott runs at high temps

anybody have any info on this?

jPm --> Areyou sure you mounted that heatsink properly?

I have a 3.0Ghz EM64T, but mine is clocked to 3.6Ghz. Its running the stock LGA775 cooler. Stock thermal pad as well. I have two 92mm Vantec Stealths on the chassis.....one up front, and one at the back.

My CPU idles at 33 to 35 degrees and it loads at around 48 degrees. If I run all my fans at full speed, both those temps will drop by 2 to 3 degrees.

My 478 Prescott runs at about 45°C idle.
Can get up to 69°C at full load.

I'm running stock cooling with 1 80mm no-name fan.

My Northwood Runs on idle 30 to 33 deg and on full load up between 40 and 50 deg. When still using air cooling it reached +/- 60 deg if memory serves me right.

My stock cooler used to work really well, sortta 48-52 load, but then I opened the cooler (shortly after I got it - I thought itd be an experience) then I realised I didn't have anymore thermal paste to replace the old paste I broke, so now it runs at 53 idle and 69 load. Never broken the 70 mark though...

Idle 12.3
Loaded Doom 3 and Warcraft 3 at the same time to get it at 41.8

Without any cooling
Idle 45.9
Load 77.2 + alarm going mad

AMD 2600+ Cpu
Asus Moterboard
X800 Gpu

Agana (Local Made) Temputure monuter and 5 fan speed controll
Poltec case (Thats what the box says)
4 * 8'' Led Fans
2 * 12" Fans
1 * 17 " 240V ColdFreeze Fan (from a mini icecream machine)

standard stuff like dvd writer , stiffie ext.

Beat that with just fans.

I am running a P4 - dual core D805 CPU.

Normal SPD 2.66 Ghz overclocked to 3.4 Ghz.

I am using a Gigabyte 3d Rocket Cooler, my case has 4x80cm fans blowing BUT my temps on the CPU is extremely high under load, on a very hot summer day it reaches, 70 C.

I experience some serios stuttering when the CPU reaches this temprature and sometimes experience a 20 second lockup.

Seriosly need help!!! Please

Please what can I do to bring down these tempratures? I have thought about Artic Silver 5 but it is expensive and not widely available, in the Jhb, Alberton are. Would this help alot or what else can I do?

PS. I have a passively cooled 7600GS running in the system..with a ThermalTake 420W PSU which is equiped with a 120cm fan. My RAM is Corsair Value Select 667Mhz.

Edit: I am using a Gigabyte 965 S3 m/Board. Running Windows XP w/ SP 1
