Hey all,

I have 2 quick questions,

1 - Where can I download updates from work and than update my xbox at home?

2 - Can I connect my USB 3G E220 Modem to my XBOX 360 and play online?

Thanx,
Obit~

Hi

1. You can't download updates on a PC and apply them to your Xbox 360 - your Xbox has to be connected directly to Xbox live where it will download and apply the patches automatically.
2. You can't connect the 3G modem to the Xbox directly, you will need to use internet connection sharing on your PC, via a LAN cable connected to your Xbox, and you will need to contact your ISP to grant you access to an unrestricted APN

Since I use an iBurst connection (and connect to the router wirelessly) I assume that I must buy the XBox wireless network adapter for connectivity. Is it a schlep to set-up or is just a case of the adapter finding my wireless network and logging in with the username and password?

Can I use the Gold trial that comes with it merely to update it with the latest updates? I'll set-up a Gold account later, once my finances recover a bit

Cheers
You don't HAVE to buy the wireless adapter, you can set up internet connection sharing on your PC and connect it to your Xbox with a LAN cable. You'd just need to configure the IP address, gateway and DNS settings on the Xbox

You only need gold membership for online gaming, silver membership (free) allows you to download the updates for the console and patches for games

You just buy your Gold Membership on LIVE, don't you? (can't remember, i did mine when i got my console, so i can hardly remember).

You'll need a UK or US address though (depending on whether you want a US or UK account).

Just google for one. I used Buckingham Palace's address as my address for my Live account

Yes but then you'll be using a US account hey. The UK account is SLIGHTLY more expensive but it's a better account (better downloads and so on)

On the 13th of December i ordered a Forza 2 Faceplate for one of my 360s from them (impulse buying BTW, i'll probably never use it :? ). Now, i didn't read the whole page so i didn't see that it would take 10-15 days for the faceplate to get to THEM, before they could ship it to me, so a few days ago i emailed them and asked when i'd get the faceplate. They replied (today only = 1st irritation) and told me that it takes 10-15 days (which is perfectly fine) and that they estimate that i'll have it on the 9th of January.

Come on.... the 9th? According to THEM, they should have had my faceplate by friday at the latest. So, they could have sent it THEN, but lets say it arrived late or whatever, i'll give them that.

Now i dunno when the public holidays are, but i don't THINK the 2nd is a public holiday, so they can send it then, and i'll have it the next day (come on, i paid like 40 bucks for shipping too). Instead, i'm getting it a frikken WEEK later?

Stuff like this is minor, yes, but it's most CERTAINLY not how i would run a company like this.

Nevertheless, these places are closed for like 2 weeks at a time this time of year so i assume that that might play a big role in this (didn't stop them from replying to my email at 9am on a Sunday morning though...)

EXACTLY what i'm thinking. If i had such a company (especially one who's reputation is going down the tubes) i'd do every effort for my customers. When the faceplate arrives, i'll post it the next day AT THE LATEST.

Instead, these okes are gonna sip some tea and send it to me when they go off to spar to buy some more sugar :?

lol. Whatever though, i'm not too rushed for the faceplate. Like i said, it was an impulse buy and i'll probably end up not using it...

I ordered an xbox live gold membership for 3 months (to test) from take 2 which went smoothly enough. Now my membership is expiring and they're out of stock for the year membership and the 3 month membership. *sigh*

Too PC-like in design but a step in the right direction I think.

Doubt Microsoft would be interested though

hmmm, dunno. It's over a year old now. New HDD's look pretty pricey. I am pretty much over the Xbox, so, For a potentially working Xbox 360, 20GB HDD, 2 x Wireless controllers, Component cable and it's power pack... Call it R700 for the lot. btw, packaging was destroyed when it was shipped up from Durban.

edit: My new puppy chewed the analogue sticks on the one controller...

ARGH! Damnit DAE beat me.

I would've taken it for more, but, alas I was beaten.
Unless DAE would offer it to me.

I just wanna fix it and play a few games on there. GoW, Lost Odyssey, etc.
