Re: The Official Crysis 2 Thread
Actually movies are usually at around 24 fps so in theory anything over that is supposed to be smooth, in the first Crysis 24 fps was considered good at one time .

Well, you can clearly see the difference between 40 and 60.

Re: The Official Crysis 2 Thread
Crysis 2 benchmarks shows that crysis 2 looses about 30% performance when using SLI or Crossfire. A recent patch did increase my framerate though. And as far as framerates go I am not disabling SLI but I am also not getting my full speed because my screen only refreshs at 60hz. Maybe I should look into a 3d LCD just to get 120hz.

Re: The Official Crysis 2 Thread
Well, I was running the game and then noticed that SLi was disabled in the nVidia Control Panel. When I switched it back on, no real increase in my MINIMUM frames, which is the important one.
The Official Crysis 2 Thread
Finished the game tonight. I enjoyed it overall and found it to be a good length for an FPS. They definitely paved the way for more sequels...

That it is, not jerky or anything, but 60 is just a much more pleasant experience.

Re: The Official Crysis 2 Thread
+1, I remember the days when I battled to run Quake 3, and the new games at the time(Battlefield Vietnam for example) ran at about 2 fps . I really do not miss that Rage 128proMystical_Titan wrote:That it is, not jerky or anything, but 60 is just a much more pleasant experience.
Crysis 2 is not very demanding, especially when you compare it to the first one, so 40+ fps in hardcore mode is not that hard to achieve.

Hehe. That's called catching up to technology. I still remember running quake 2 in windowed software mode and then switching to a voodoo2.

Re: The Official Crysis 2 Thread
BTW I always hated the Rage 128 pro(32mb DDR), even when it was new it struggled with Quake 3. It was a driver related problem, but back then with 56k dial-up getting different drivers was expensive and time consuming, eventually we got some drivers that sorted things out a bit.

Re: The Official Crysis 2 Thread
I dont remember the rage pro ever having ddr memory. Only from Radeon up did ddr make an appearance on ATI cards and a few months after the geforce 256 DDR.

I'm waiting (perhaps in vain) for Kalahari to get more stock of the free t-shirt edition, but looks like it was a one-time thing.

I don't really remember I think it was actually SDRAM, did you have a RAGE 128?StarBound wrote:I dont remember the rage pro ever having ddr memory. Only from Radeon up did ddr make an appearance on ATI cards and a few months after the geforce 256 DDR.
I will try and find my rage 128 and have a look at what type of ram it has.

Re: The Official Crysis 2 Thread
Are there any benifits to picking up the in-game collectables?

Re: The Official Crysis 2 Thread
The Rage 128 and Rage pro had normal SDRam. The first geforce came out with SDram aswell and the 2nd one was the geforce 256 ddr. The first Radeon came out and had DDR, same time the geforce 2 gts was released and the voodoo 5 5500 was still sdram.THE_STIG wrote:I don't really remember I think it was actually SDRAM, did you have a RAGE 128?StarBound wrote:I dont remember the rage pro ever having ddr memory. Ok, back to Crysis 2.

Re: The Official Crysis 2 Thread
It seems with the new nVidia drivers I can now get a constant 60 FPS on Extreme too.

Re: The Official Crysis 2 Thread
Porbably not that high... but you never know.
Really enjoying Crysis 2. It's less demanding than Crysis was when it came out and, despite the slightly more linnear gameplay, the storyline is much more interesting, the game involves you more.

Minor details. Doesn't make any difference to me.
