we had a Crysis tournament at FRAG LAN. it was fun but also very frustrating.

I haven't had a chance to continue with the single player campaign. i have too many things to watch and play. I got gears of war and UT3 and haven't had a chance top play either of them.

Hi all,

I am in some need of some serious help...

I got my 8800GTS 320mb last night, I had Vista Installed already I loaded the relevant Nvidia Drivers, Installed a fresh crysis. and preoceeded to run the game. But I can't find where to run DX10? I have looked everywhere. Apparantely I have to right click on teh icon in my start menu and tell it to run DX10 version but for some reason my Crysis isn't installing and menus in the start menu or even a desk top icon.

I did try doing a custom install but there are no options to create either start menu entries or even a desktop icon?

Plz help me

Just run the game. Because you are in vista it is auto set to DX10. So whether you decide to play the game on low, med, high or very high, you will be playing it in Dx10.

Edit: Have a look under your Graphic options in Crysis. If you can choose very high then you are playing under DX10.

but it doesn't look like DX10 to me? I played on very high? no lag is that een possible with a 8800GTS?

No lag under very high in DX10 on a 320meg GTS?

Thats impossible....what resolution are you running and version Drivers?

Edit: You wouldn't be able to pick very high if you were playing in Dx9.

thats what im saying...

Driver - 163.75.
Resoloution - 1024x768 & 1280x1024.

Is it possible its still rendering DX9? If it is how would I solve that?

It shouldn't. I think there is an option in the Graphics menu to select if you want to force it to render Dx9 (Correct me if I am wrong) See if maybe that hasn't been ticked.

Hmm that is strange....I know when I tried Crysis in Vista I didn't have to do anything. It went straight into Dx10 rendering. Cause when I started the game the lag was immense. And back to Dx9 I went.

Why are you still using 163.75? The 169.04 series upwards were made for Crysis.

Download the 169.25 Beta release.

And if "Very High" mode is selectable, then your running in DX10 mode, the Vista default.

EDIT : And no, Crysis is not playable in "Very High" mode with a 320 GTS.

Wish I could I'm at work, will try and screenshot when Im at home with fraps and the settings blah blah blah. If it is in DX9 which I suspect it is, what should I do?

We already told you it's not.

In DX9 mode the "Very High" mode is not selectable.

I have finished the game... and I must say that I am a little disappointed with the ending... Was expecting alot more...

... and the game is also pretty short, which seems to be happening more and more with the new games. They are focusing so much on graphics development that game play time takes a back seat.

I'm kinda stuck on what to play now as I have finished most (if not all) the new games...

I finished it on friday. I was pleased with the ending. The game may be a bit short but I didn't really notice as I played for about an hour or two every second day while switching through different games. I still have a crap load of games to get through

I have finished C.O.D 4, Hellgate London, The Witcher, Bioshock, and Jericho.

I have NFS: PS, but I'm not really into racing games....

You can try Kane and Lynch, I have heard it's ok. Painkiller overdose, Im enjoying that, mindless violence

, Gears of war, I think it's a bit repetitive, World in conflict or The stand alone expansion for Supreme commander if RTS are your thing.

well, i have a PC thats similar to yours (but for the 4 GB of ram you have) and i get about 10 FPS at 1280*1024 on everything set to very high, so im very surprised that you're experiencing lagless gameplay at that setting...

As for the DX10 issue, if you're playing the game on a vista PC, then the game defaults to DX10. you have to tell it to run in DX9 if you want to play it that way and since you have no idea how that works, im assuming you're playing in DX10.

PLease take a screenshot with your settings o and make it a shot where you have the gun mod interface up while looking at the sun ( easiest way to see god rays and thus determine if you are runing in DX10)

Clocked the game in 5 hours though, bit short but the best 5 odd hours ever

Welcome back Doom.

Playing the game on Delta now. DAMN it's much more fun...

Played it through on Easy first. You pick up the difference so quickly. It's not that the gameplay gets more difficult, it's more like all the *unreal* stuff gets removed. Like you cant drive a boat or SUV and shoot the turrent. You HAVE to be in the turrent seat. AI is a bit smarter and much more accurate with their shooting. Grenade warnings are removed. You can't see the mines (in easy if you look at the minefields, you can see the mines).

But the explotions looks just as SHWEET!!
