I was 2500-ish in que! Made worgen lock. Really liked the new quests up to lvl 10. They toned down the kill-loot-repeat factor, and amade it more interesting.

This is something I really don't get about Blizzard.GreyWolf wrote:I was 2500-ish in que...
If they know the server can only handle, let's say, 20k players, why oh why would they not lock the server for new players when they reach the limit???
It's really not a difficult concept to understand.
I swear they put all the more intelligent staff on the next gen MMO and thought all the Stupid ones could handle the WoW servers...

Re: Wow players on this forum.
Same reason why the ISPs have contention ratios. You can limit sign-ups to 20K accounts if that's the maximum that the server can handle, but the chances of all 20K players being online at the same time is low. Of course, last night was an exception, but under normal circumstances I believe the current system is good enough. Besides, it's not economically viable to cater for once-off spikes such as these - of course, if they were happening all the time, that's a different story.
(Also, Blizz does try to direct brand new players to the lower population realms, but recognize that there's not a lot they can do if the player wants to go elsewhere for whatever reason.)

Good points all. But I have never seen the queues (happy now?) this bad before. I do hope it gets better, but I have a feeling that it wont do so quickly.Ron2K wrote: Same reason why the ISPs have contention ratios. Re: Wow players on this forum.
Finally got my game - However I am in the need of some serious help here!
It has been 2 years, since I played WoW. Now I'm trying to merge my WoW acc with my new Battle.net acc, it won't let me; Keeps telling me, my log-in details are invalid.
So, upon searching through 3 years worth of e-mails, I eventually find my acc details. I entered everything as mentioned in the E-mail, to no avail.
I clicked the "Loss Password" to see what is going on; I decided to change my e-mail address, as it appears the acc is still there, but my e-mail was no longer valid.
*NOT user-friendly at all!) I changed everything, but still, the problem persists.
It won't let me merge my acc, because it can't find it.
I cannot "ADD" a new game, because my WoW Cd key, has already been authorized
I cannot "Add" Cataclysm at all, because there is no existing WoW game on my Battle.net
This pretty screws me over.
What do I do?

Re: Wow players on this forum.
on Battle.net go to support. There is a form you can fill in to provide them with the details of your product to recover the wow account. Due warning it will take about 6 hours for them to go through the whole process. BTW you will need a copy of your id and you can add a scan of your game cd perhaps.

Re: Wow players on this forum.
Also bear in mind that due to the whole Cata thing the battle.net website has also taken some strain so they implemented a scaled down lite version of it. You might not see everything as it should be. I will try to find the appropriate link for you.

Is there any other way of doing this though?

Re: Wow players on this forum.
Not that I know of. Unless you can manage to log in. You might also try to phone their support helpline. But I never got joy through them and it only costs you money to hold on for an operator.
https://eu.blizzard.com/support/webform ... cale=en_GB
Unsure as to the options you want to try there. Under battle.net you might be interested in changing account details or under WoW you could look at forgotten account data. Depending on what best suits your need or requirements.
Damn I should be working for Blizzard.

Just to clarify, do you have to download 9 GBs?

Re: Wow players on this forum.
lol noooo.... For heavens sake no. If you do a normal install...in other words.
Vanilla -> BC -> LK ->CT
from the CD's you should only need to download another 600-900Mb
Besides I doubt you will get a 9GBs connection.

Re: Wow players on this forum.
I've uninstalled it!
Gonna try again!

Re: Wow players on this forum.
That is really scary because I was planning on doing a format windows and a clean install of WoW thinking that with Cata it would be almost totally patched but now you're saying it is asking for a 9gig download
How did the re-install go? Any joy? Or do you still need 9gigs worth?

Unfortunately, I have no choice but to download the 9 GB patch!Screeper wrote:That is really scary because I was planning on doing a format windows and a clean install of WoW thinking that with Cata it would be almost totally patched but now you're saying it is asking for a 9gig download

I did some research on it, and apparently, it isn't downloading the game, but it is downloading 9 GBs worth of patches; Reason for this is, I had to clean install my WoW Game, and my Cache folder is empty!
I can't get around this, unless I get the patches from someone.
So I would back up the game before formatting, if I were you.
Re: Wow players on this forum.
Your best bet is to Copy the client from someone.
The Cata DVD installs the game to v4.0.0
While you need to be up to 4.0.3a
This is what it's trying to Download.
On a side note, Zarni, you don't need to physically install all 4 DVDs from Vanilla through Cataclysm.
The Cataclysm DVD will do a complete install of everything up to 4.0.0.

We did the Blackrock Caverns last night. The new dungeon certainly is interesting.

That is one nice dungeon Wolfie. I have to say I love the new content. The quests aren't monotonous and they actually tell a story a lot more fluently.

Download is about 50% now; I'm actually worried about this update finishing before blizzard sorts my account out! Still waiting for a reply from them.

Re: Wow players on this forum.
I haven't had WoW installed on my PC for 2 years, or back when WOTLK was out for a month or 2.
*Edit* But I've learned my lesson now.
