The game is fun at first. Normal is easy and enjoyable but you want a challenge after getting thru it. The problem then occurs you don't get the needed weapons and gear to advance through nightmare, hell, inferno.

I'm not sure if it was suppose to be fixed in patch 1.0.3, but i'm still getting drops 10 levels below my current character level. I do however see more yellow item drops from champ/etc mobs/bosses.
Finished normal on my witch doctor 2 days ago and got 4 yellow items from the last boss.

@Tribble:
D2's re-playability, at least for me, was in a large part about set/rune hunting - which are either non-existent or so scarce as to make the lottery sound like a sure thing. D2's loot was levelled so you were able to progress from start to finish without back-tracking. now you're *required* to play through prior levels multiple times to secure gold to spend at the AH, because the loot drops are so hilariously underpowered.

after the first play-through the game becomes a pointless grind with zero reward and buckets of frustration... great for unemployed autistics, not so much for anyone looking to have - you know - fun for an hour or so.

was telling Anakha56 the other day that treasure goblins become an insulting mechanic. in later difficulties you're simply unable to deliver enough damage to take them down before they exit. (without the AH, that is. go shopping and you're sorted... but how much fun is there in shopping? (for a guy!)... )

@MIA: that's pretty standard... that gap just keeps growing as you progress.. which is why I have yet to get a char past 45...

game has a long way to go on balancing...

I have no issues with shopping however items arent level out. A lvl60 bow has anything between 400dps to 1400dps.

I keep finding the need to compare the game to WoW dynamics from vanilla. At lvl58 your rare 2hnders all had 51dps. It was set in stone. But your attributes were different. If you look at inferno as the vanilla wow raids act1 (mc), act2 (bwl), act3 (aq40) and act4 (naxx) you would find that your weapons would be equalized across the board but stats would differ. So event if you go thru act1 with a barbarian weilding a sword with +100 int and +100 dex you would still have a 700dps weapon regardless. Obviously if you want to better your dmg after that you will need str on it.

As for how it is now... inferno is lvl60 naxx, and your getting tons of ubrs drops to take on enemies that are 50% above item lvl.

@Puppy - I can see what you mean. I am on my first play through and other than creating a new character - I probably won't play it again. Those goblin things - well they make me want to smash them. Don't get me wrong - I am really enjoying it but would rather play D2 and see what all the hype is about. The thought of repeating what I have already done bores me. I know I have played Oblivion twice and might play Skyrim (after Dawnguard) again - but D3's replay for me is limited. I suppose the harder levels may be fun :P Contrary to popular belief - I only enjoy shopping for gadgets and music. I do not put real money into games. And if that means I cannot finish - then it is a stupid game!

It is a great stress reliever though.

If you people would all just play on the US servers you could enlist the help of a lvl60 monk (me) to get you thru the tough patches and help you level thru the 50's.
Level 50-60 is a grind. No doubt.
It's the part of the game where you are too strong to play lower difficulties, but too weak to continue solo.

But D3 really isn't a game for socially inept people like Rusty.
Come the latter part of Act3 Nightmare and onwards you have to play co-op to beat it. It's just not feasible to solo.
You can certainly do it without the AH. I did.
But you cant do it alone.

Dont cry AH is imba when you don't even need it, all you need is a friend or 3.
If that is a requirement you cannot meet, then I am afraid you have more issues than sucking at D3.

If you play on a new server, you'll have to start a new character on that server as characters are region-bound.

I often see Crustypup online - which server does that put me on? The reason I ask is I play on my hubby's battlenet account and don't want to mess with the settings.

Think they should do 2 things:
Uncap the level so people can reach rediculously high levels but make the later levels gain less effects from the increase.
Then secondly normalize items.

Either way I'm still eyeing Torchlight 2 but its developement time is murder now and as each day passes the feeling that it might not even live up to the once indominateable seeming Diablo 3 is starting to take hold.

I will when the game proves itself. As you said you tried Krater and it ...kratered. Fact is after Diablo 3 was released the games that followed sold themselves for Diablo 3s short falls. I've been playing Torchlight again for the past few days and started seeing the flaws in its design. The most apparent being the lack of multiplayer and secondly is that you out level your enemies.

But even with that and the difficulty that doesn't match the game playes better than D3.

Until the final game is released though, I stand by what I said. Diablo 3 was far too overhyped. Let's hope Torchlight 2 does not fall in that deathtrap.

I think "Option 2" happens already :/.

Don tinfoil hat
I see this as a ploy to get people into the AH to buy more equipment rather than playing the damned game.

As puppy knows I finished it for the first time this weekend. What a let down. Now I am forced to play through again on nightmare so that I can get those papers for crafting and other stuff. Only benefit I can see is that it was fun playing with him online and will probably rope other people in more often.

I do have one serious problem though - I forget to read the writing on the screen so often don't see the messages. Really need to work on that.

I'm actually having a ball in Inferno right now, you need to get out of the kiddie pool and swim with the big kids, Tribble

Playing with Rusypup wont get you far.

I have got my monk up to almost 20K DPS and my resists are starting to get decent...
Decent enough that I can solo Act 1 Inferno now without dying more than a handful of times.

Jamin, how high is "decent" resistances? I have about 80-100 resistance "points" in each, but i dont see it helping much. I'm guessing i need more.

And what type of damage does mortar mobs do? Really getting tired of being pawned by them as a wizard.
