Smash your monitor repeatedly on the back with a sharp object until the screenshot pops out the front, then be ready with a net of some sort to ensnare it. Store immediately in ice, and only defrost on the day you will be using it.
Alternatively, the Print Screen button normally works, though with some games there are specific shortcut buttons for screenies.
It would appear from a brief survey of the STO forums that Print Screen is indeed the correct button. It is rumoured that screenies are then stored in C:\Users\Public\Games\Cryptic Studios\Star Trek Online\Live\screenshots.
I take no responsibility if this doesn't work. All character in the aforementioned story are purely fictitious, and any resemblance to real life persons or events is entirely coincidental. I will not be held liable for any dental precedures that are required after attempting the above, or for any monitor replacement costs that you might incur.

KB... I can change over to an assault ship if you like... That way Stuart can pick the type that makes him feel comfortable... and I don't mind kicking bums and taking names...
I will try be on as close to 7pm tonight as possible, and we can setup the new character for me (Will keep my Science Officer for those days when I get bored of killing everything!!)

well lets see what Stuart does.
If he goes balls to teh wall and starts eating razor blades then he will have to go as assault.

I'm L5 Or L6. One of the two. Takes so much time to level up.
Btw, KB, lately I have not been blown out of space! I seem to be staying alive most of the time these days. It's all about shields management. Power to auxiliary shields button FTW!

Re: 1st South African Fleet / Official ST:O thread
The best way to capture screenies when it comes to games would be to create a free Xfire profile, install the client then use Scroll Lock + S to take a screenshot when you're in the game. After you exit the game you will be presented with the screenies you took in-game. From there you can choose to upload them to your Xfire profile page and share them with anyone whose interested. Xfire is even kind of enough to offer you specialised links for forums and emails with which to share with your friends.Ghostspock wrote:Hi

Re: 1st South African Fleet / Official ST:O thread
Xfire doesn't work in STO.
Kb and I tried last night. Big let down. We had to resort to the in game chat system

Re: 1st South African Fleet / Official ST:O thread
Okay, the patches on this thing are just getting rediculace! First the whole installation fiasco, two days later a 400MB patch, the next day a 300MB patch and now another 160MB patch. Do these people think bandwidth grows on trees?

I think they are looking more at the European and American markets in regards to this game and the patches...

Re: 1st South African Fleet / Official ST:O thread
I don't think the constant patching will last long. If you take a look at the release notes, you'll see that the patches are quite worth it
Also, considering how much cap costs these days, it's not really that much.
There are a few things about the game that bug me...
1. When you use the map to warp to a sector / system, you may find yourself spontaneously in a battle.
2. The time it takes getting into the game (start up screen >> checking for patches >> Game loading >> Loading characters >> Finally, loading the actual game)
3. Sometimes it gets stuck when loading characters
4. Crashing when on away missions, and lots of bad dudes appear
5. The dreaded "Lost connection to server" error
I'm on level 8 or 9 today. Really trying to get to Lt. Commander! I've picked up that stuff that can only be used when I have that rank. Epic guns.. epic shields... and all they can do now is sit and look pretty in my inventory :/

:O
My word how many hours did you jam for?
I'm still stuck on level 9 or 8 No Commander status for me yet.
I'm assuming you completed a lot of missions?

Not really... I did 3 "Explore" missions from Sulu... and about 8 or 9 from the main Admiral... and I did 2 "Deep Space Encounters".... (roughly)...
It took me about 3 hours of gameplay to go from Lt. level 8 to Commander level 0... Now the fun starts...

Ja, this has happened to me. Also, trying to dock at Earth Station on Friday night was chaos. There were so many of us around my ship just kept exploding. I assume that other ships were flying into me when warping through. After about 15 minutes I just logged out.Mr_Norris wrote:1. Not experienced this yet, but then I only have one character atm.Mr_Norris wrote:3. Sometimes it gets stuck when loading characters
Not yet crashed, but there do seem to be an inordinate amount of bad guys at times.Mr_Norris wrote:4. Crashing when on away missions, and lots of bad dudes appear
Haven't hit this yet, but then I've not really played a great deal. I've only just completed a couple of missions.Mr_Norris wrote:5. The dreaded "Lost connection to server" error

I'm so jealous! I played for too many hours to mention this weekend. I really thought I'd hit CommanderVinceThePrince wrote:Not really... I did 3 "Explore" missions from Sulu... and about 8 or 9 from the main Admiral... and I did 2 "Deep Space Encounters".... (roughly)...
