You could limit it to one click per user on a post and pose a limit of one click every 48 hours or something.

RuadRauFlessa, it is normally one click per user per post.

Here is a site with an example of the thank you system :)

http://www.smokstak.com/forum/showthread.php?t=56996

you'd need to register and log in to see exactly how it works though. :)

Against calling Stu a n00b :?: Not in the slightest. On the matter of thank you this post was a tremendous help, YES

G'day folks.

I posted in the for sale section and my thread got closed and removed (Legally cuz I overlooked the one rule by mistake).

I wanted to know if it might be possible to allow the sellings of other items in the for sale section as well. For instance car sound, bikes, cars ect ect.

I know cars and bikes are a bit more exspensive, so there might be lawsuits waiting, but a disclaimer could fix that?

Just a thought. :) If not, then I would graciously accept the decision, but then would also like to know why not.

Ciao!

No. It opens up a whole new can of worms and associated problems/legal issues/etc - and believe me, we would rather close the For Sale section down than deal with problems arising from it.

If you're looking to sell stuff, there are other sites out there suited to what you want. This forum is NOT it.

How about having a choice for your profile of how many posts to show per page, like instead of the default 15, we can choose 30 or 45?

How about Tags, So if a user creates a topic, he can add tags and if someone clicks one of the tags, all topics with similar or identical tags show up. Or a user can go to a page with a list of all tags being used and click on one and he will be shown all topics with the same tag.

For example, if you are trying to find all threads about motherboard problems, you simply click the tag and are shown topics with the same tag- Motherboard problems, the rather than every mention of a motherboard problem in a completely irrelavent post and topic.

No, it wouldn't do much to existing topics but it would certainly have an impact on future topics. :D

Hey, I've got a great idea - lets all make suggestions that will take Ron ages to code, test and implement - and then will only ever be used occasionally by a few of us.

After all, looking after this forum is his sole purpose in life - it's not like he has a job or social life or anything like that... he should be glad to do it.

And if our brilliant, innovative ideas get shot down we can band together and throw ourselves a pity party or ask for the slidebra back.

jamin_za, Useless post is expected :P

I think it is a fantastic idea, only that our forum is not quite big or busy enough to warrant it.

Ron, wouldn't it be an idea to split the for sale section into "for sale" and "items wanted"?

It's not a bad idea, but I just prefer keeping all of those threads in one place. Makes our lives easier.

define "our"? i would think that "wanted" and "for sale" makes things easier. if teh n00bs know how to put their classifieds in the correct section, that is.
