Sleeving

Post by Malakai »

Hey guys... I've a bit of a problem regarding sleeving the cables in my pc. I work in an IT company, but in the financial side. I do know quite a bit about pc's,but i'm not an expert in the field. On Friday i decided i want to sleeve my cables. I bought a Vantec sleeving kit, together with a molex connector kit. Which is great. But... The pin remover (if it's called that) that came with the molex kit, was too big for the 20pin Mobo connector [ATX?], of course... So i asked on of the technicians how they removed those pins. He gave me this weird little screwdriver, and told me to just pushed them out. Which i did. Idiot. So I sleeved the cables. When it was time to reconnect the 20pin connector, the pins naturally didn't want to stay in. Only then did i realize i kinda broke them all. Yippee. My problem now is - i have searched the net, but cannot find an online shop anywhere that actually sell these tools. Sure, there's a couple of sleeving kits, but no pin removal tools. Anybody know of such a place?
thankyouforunderstanding...

Not sure you need anything uber-specialised. Our local guru will, I am sure, be more than happy to offer advice. Just call 1-800-DAE-JA-VOO. (Or PM him.)

Thanks schase :D

Malakai, all you need to remove those pins is a VERY small flat screw driver. You DO get tools specifically for the job but there's no point in buying them if a screw driver does the job just as well ;)

I doubt you'll get new pins. the only thing i can think of if cutting off your existing ones and soldering others on. You can cut others off an old PSU.

Thanks for the compliment :D
