I doubt that.
BUt still, it's pretty cool that the PS3 encourages people to do more than just game with it.

PM has been on the downward spiral into oblivion for a while now... this just serves to underline this fact...
this has been one of the most documented features of the console, and the most overblown - the OS and the cpu barely speak, the console makes it almost impossible to utilise the 3d functionality of the gpu, the space provided for partitioning is tiny in comparison to most systems... really...
aside from running IM/skype etc in the background, it serves little other purpose..

I think if you could get a OS that is streamlined for gaming, you would be able to get a lot of performance out of a pc.

The point is to get PS3 titles to run without emulation .

360 games doesn't run under emulation on PCs either.
The last console to see emulation on the PC was the PS1 ... PS2 saw little success.
I don't see the point in any case. MAME and the rest of it ... FTW!!!

Well.....PS3 games are compiled with PS3 hardware in mind, aren't they....so....
um.....would one not pretty much HAVE to emulate?

it's not so much the hardware as the processor...
the cell is not a normal cpu.. instructions are processed in parallel, making threaded tasks tricky to control at best...
theoretically extremely powerful, practically, a nightmare to code for... most of the additional oomf is being sucked into thread management....
