Expensive HD cabling is no better than the cheap stuff (HDMI to DVI). We're getting ripped off in this country.

Buy the cheap stuff please. Digital is digital, it's not like analogue where you can have major signal degradation from cheap wiring.

You can wait if you wish ... depends if you make "unnecessary" purchases the rest of the year
There is a new dvd drive that will be shipped (LiteOn DG-16D2S DVD) in the next shipments. Still awaiting the hardware revision in terms of the next big manufacturing process.
However, you can't play the waiting game forever. By that time we'll be on the Xbox 720 ... ...

I am going throught the same process you started a while back now...only I have talked myself out of PS3 and am going for the Xbox 360 Pro in December. Games are comparitively cheap at Cash Crusaders.1g0r wrote:It's more cost effective, 3 grand vs 4.5 grand. The controller is apparently superior as is the overall "architecture" of the console. Better games and overall better value for money.

Xbox 360 runs at the resolution you set it to - whether it be 576i, 720p, 1080i or 1080p - it runs at what it says it runs at.

Not native 1080p. Most games are rendered at lower resolution and then upscaled (stretched) by a chip. The PS3 does the same except it upscales without the use of dedicated hardware (which is obviously less efficient). Neither of the consoles offer "true" Full HD on all games, only some.OnlyOneKenobi wrote:Crap, man!Xiphan wrote:I remember reading somewhere that the Xbox 360 does not offer a True HD experience; that it lowers the resolution of games to handle it better. RING OF DEATH.
Get PS3.
Right - you don't own either but you think you're 'net-savvy'(or some other 733t term) and you know it all?
Xbox sucked cause DVD was noisy.
Took me all of 15 min to have it swopped - including the time it took to get a reference # from the helpline - and only cause I'd left the cash slip at home. And this was at IC.
Did I mention that my warranty period now start anew?
XBOX - hurray

Thanks.
This explains why he's pro-PS3 and precisely the reason I'm pro-Xbox?
May be this thread should be limited to those - and there are some - that own both?

Well, would it make sense if I owned a PS3 but was pro-Xbox? I bought a PS3 because I was of the opinion that it was the better buy for many reasons which I will not care to share with you.doo_much wrote:ryanrich wrote: He owns a PS3.
