Based on recent comments and trolls, I'd say jamin currently isn't fit to rip a slug a new one. My guess is he's having difficulty coming up with new reasons to defend his favourite OS (the one he gets paid huge money each month to keep workingsimmy wrote:where is jamin to rip dae_ a new one
Apt-get is a derivative of aptitude which is like "add / Remove programs" but on steroids. It accesses most of the packages on the web which allows you to browse through (read: search) and download and install what you want.DeathStrike wrote:hm. this sounds like a linux joke...... hm wonders if anyone care to explain 4 a windows user.(altho by the comment DAE_JA_VOO made i assume that this apt-get thing is very important file and linux can't function without it?)
not quite... apt comprises 15+ individual tools and was the defacto tool used from day 1 - aptitude is the new kid on the block which offers the entire lot in one package, along with some sterling package management functionality, (not least of which is the scrubbing of deprecated/orphaned packages).Vampyre_2099 wrote:Apt-get is a derivative of aptitude
Ok, I was under the impression that apt-get was "the new kid on the block". Oh well, makes sense to include it all in one. We learn something new everydayrustypup wrote:not quite... apt comprises 15+ individual tools and was the defacto tool used from day 1 - aptitude is the new kid on the block which offers the entire lot in one package, along with some sterling package management functionality, (not least of which is the scrubbing of deprecated/orphaned packages).Vampyre_2099 wrote:Apt-get is a derivative of aptitude

no, the user has this nag of opening 20 documents at a time and the pc just cant handle that much stress and takes a while to respond, then the user reboots the pc in order to continue his work. After 29 times the system then runs an fsck to check for errors. He said this is not the first time the pc have run fsck. It is however the first fsck picked up errors.rustypup wrote: 8O ACPI issue?
