Hey guys, Im looking to join in on some WoW fun. At the moment me and the GF have 10 day trial accounts. I would like us to move to active accounts. Also I have 1 burning crusade box that was given to me as a present, Im guessing this is to take 1 active account to the expansion.

So what do I need to buy to get mine and the GF accounts active and into the burning crusade expansion?

Well if you only have trial accounts you each need:

1 x copy of original WOW
1 x copy of The Burning Crusade.

However since you mentioned that you have a copy of "The Burning Crusade" expansion, you will need:

2 x original wow
1 x TBC!

And then how does the playing time work? Would I need to purchase pre paid game cards?

well you get 30 days playing time when you enter you original wow licence key, you then have the option of purchasing more time via game cards, or you can add a subscription to your account via credit card.

Ok cool, so that 30 days playing time will also cover the burning crusade?

Ressurecting the thread so we dont have an "Another wow thread" complaint. What server are EU alliance playing? Prefer PVP but just trying to find out who plays alliance on what servers.

Is there a future for it since AoC got released?

Got wimax. Getting 800ms in wow and 600ms in AoC but my COD4 latency is 100ms so there is some major shaping or something on my connection.

I get around 600ms unshaped with DataPro. With Axxess unshaped this goes down to around 400ms. If I go on early in the morning using unshaped connection +-6am I get around 250ms :D

Best I've ever got with iBurst is 450ms sustained. Mostly around 800ms, makes PvP a bit difficult.

WoW is playable to anything lower than 1k ms after that it becomes hard. Do not play an interrupting class or anything thats latency dependant in raids. I have a hunter and mage (getting good at pre-complete bar casts) and hunter is very nice to avoid the lag issue but low on demand. Sencond would be a lock as you just dot everything.

Don't go Pally. Sucked at PVP because by time i had run to a spot a guy was standing, he had already moved to the next spot and was out of weapon range. Locks and mages FTW IMO

PvE - it is easily playable.
PvP - what the guys said above, possible, but choose your character carefully.

To DoT everything in site you need a really good tank to keep the aggro off you and most of the time that doesn't happen, a single DoT and continual shadowbolts causes the most DPS during instances most of the time which means if you have high lag you'll have low DPS. Otherwise if you've got a really good tank and depending on the instance, you can go crazy with the instant cast DoTs. Lag affects the instant casts as well.

But locks probably make one of the best solo classes. You can easily take out elites + extras with a demo spec'd lock. I soloed lots of the elite or 2 player suggested quests when I was leveling.
