Modding/Upgrading My Modding Workspace
How's it guys
Some of you may have noticed how inactive i've been in my modding for the last while. This was due to a few holidays, as well as all the junk i've been going through to enroll for my studies this year. But it's ALSO been due to the fact that i've had nowhere to mod! I thought some of you might be interested, so, here's why
Since i started modding, i've always read lots of international modding forums, and i've seen how some guys have these amazing workspaces. Now, since i'm still studying, i've decided to stay with my parents (i'm still a laatjie anyway ). A few months ago i converted one of the spare rooms in the house into a modding room for myself.
This is how i USED to work. I actually built the entire Epiphany rig right here:
A few months ago though, i moved my workspace into a room:
Well, that room just got some upgrades
A few months ago i saw Defyant's workspace (he's another modder, but he's REALLY good...) and i was so inspired. So the plan was to lay a big sheet of white plexi on my table and then another sheet on the wall. Along with that, i wanted a big florescent light. Starting...
This is the plexi that's going against the wall:
The two black goodies you see there are for holding tools.
LCD screen fitted on the plexi:
Hello Jill!
Okay, here the plexi for the wall was finished:
Fitted:
White plexi on the table fitted:
(BTW, those two sheets of plexy were bloody expensive. Oh my word. Boy did i get a surprise when i placed the order...)
These are the two goodies i made for some tools:
So then i installed XP on the machine that will run in this room:
The only reason i'll have XP is for sketchup. As i type this, Ubuntu is busy installing
The rest of the room is still a disaster though. But i'll get that sorted:
Now, why WHITE, you ask? Well, first of all, because it just looks SO good. But the main reason i wanted white was because of how GREAT stuff looks when you take photos in a setup like this. The white surroundings and pure white light make for awesome photos. Look at this:
The lighting is perfect
So, that's all for now. I've still got a bit to do. I want a keyboard that will fit in with this room, and 2 days ago on my way home an amazing idea just popped in my head. That idea has about 10 hours of designing done so far. I should be done in another 10 hours or so. Making it will be easy (all by laser) and it will fit in with the room beautifully.

That's exactly what the 10 or so hours of design have been about Custom building a keyboard to fit with this whole setup. It's gonna be frikken AWESOMEmaxxis wrote:I would imagine the next step being the integration of the keyboard into the table.
That would look so awesome.
