Ubuntu Hdd Issue

Hey there helpful pcf members

could someone Please help me with this little problem im having

I just got two new Office Pc's and we need to install Ubuntu on them
when i start the LIVE installation CD it doesnt pick up the machines HDD
its Been Partitioned and Formatted (NTFS)

now the partition manager in linux says it cant find any devices?
the hdd is SATA if that makes a difference :?

i dont know what to do?
help / advice pls :)

does the BIOS see the drives?

yes the drive is working fine -> after trying Linux, i put the windows xp install cd and booted that and WinXp was picking up the Hdd just fine
but Ubuntu cant see it?
