Some prblem with XP
I have had this problem for a while and though after a good format it will go away, but it still happens.
When I restart my PC through winows, and the boot-up XP screen comes up the bar just keep searching, but does not go thru to the Welcome screen or Desktop. It keeps running, and my HHD led does not indicate that it is working.
So I turn it of and back on again and then it's fine
Weeks pass and then it happens again, WHY
Sometimes after manual restart(after the thing keeps running/searching), a screen comes up with choice to start windows in safe mode, bla bla bla and start windows normally, then I choice normally and it works fine.
When I forget about it, it happens again
Why why why

You say that after a format it's fine, but then after a while it happens again...and that your HD light doesn't come on?
Don't know if you've tried a Scandisk recently, but it's starting to sound like a HD that's developing bad sectors...run something like Norton Disk Doctor on your HD, or freeware tools like HDD Health and/or Emsa DiskCheck and see what's going on - it could also be caused by high HD temps.

Have no flash drives
Only HP scanner, Canon printer
Hate this
Weird then it happens and then it's fine for weeks
My 120 is partitioned 20/100
the 20 is NTFS and the 100 fat32, could that do something

I had this problem with an AMD 750 with 256 RAM.
I added more RAM, then did the format thing.
It works fine now.
XP takes up a lot of RAM and although they say it only takes 256, this is not always the case. after a restert, it will work but from boot up, when XP loads all the RAM it does this ( freeze on start etc)
Hope it helps.

Then it could be corrupt XP files, physical fault on RAM, Bad connector on HDD, or Connector onto motherboard.
All of the above have also created this type of error in the past ( bad connectors tend to have a great stopping effect on it, even when re-installing XP the screen freezes before the XP screen comes on the second time.)
Sorry, apart from these faults, Kan hierdie dom apie jounie help nie. Nice system, by the way
