Painting Brushed aluminum

Post by psYChowIt »

The time has come for me to Spray Paint my Lian Li. I've spray painted quite a few cases before BUT, None have been brushed aluminum. Would I just spray like normal? Primer, coat, sand, coat etc. etc blah blah, or is there another process?

Off topic... Where would I buy Bondo? I asked for it at Builders Warehouse and they thought I was going crazy.

You don't spray paint a Lian Li case, you anodize it ;)

bondo same as body filler for a car, and the painting process doesnt change for brushed aluminium, just more sanding is involved to get rid of the ridges and make it a flat surface.

Ye I would have to agree with that too :-) But if he wishes for a smooth finish then a spray is the way to go :-)

Damn... Can I just clean the panels prime it and spray it? Will it then keep the brushed feel?

lol, of course you can spray it. But when it come to quality like Lian Li, i wouldn't do anything except anodize. It'll cost more, but it'll look like it came out of a factory. That Alu will like like it's STAINED that colour :D

Anodize>Poweder coat>Paint IMHO

serriously dude if you looking for that "Painted look" i would go for powdercoating, expensive but worth it. BUT as Dae said anodize is FTW.

BTW if your poor(read: Stingy  ) and have a bit of time on your hands, i hear doing DIY anodizing isnt as hard as you think and can yeild great results as well as giving you that cool DIY braggingness
