Vista resource monitor for XP

Post by marduke »

Hi my name is Marduke

I'm a resource monitoring addict.
I'm looking for a resource monitoring tool for XP that looks & functions as much as possible like the one in Vista. Yes I know about perfmon, it sucks, I want the one in Vista. Yes I have Vista, I want one for XP.

Windowblinds??? Dude, I don't want my XP to look like Vista, I want the resource monitoring tool, to monitor RESOURCES with. Like e.g. CPU, Memory, Disk & Network resources. Especially disk usage, that's the one I'm actually after. CPU, mem & network I can monitor with task manager so no problem there but task manager doesn't show disk usage, hence my request. I hope it's more clear now.

You still not really making it clear that you want the monitor for XP or Vista, and no, WindowBlinds wont make your XP machine look like Vista, you can download all sorts of skins, widgets etc

How about FreeMeter Pro?

If you really want to get some in-depth monitors you should consider the server monitors, they are pretty good and give you everything. I'm sure the majority will work under XP too.

Thanx Cameron, that's more or less what I was looking for. Don't know how my request was misinterpreted as a skinning request. Do people not read?

I absolutely hate & loathe all forms of desktop sidebars, they are very distracting & take up space on my desktop. Anyone feel the same?

@ hman: One man speaketh not for all.

Freemeter is pretty cool, has lots of meters, & is very customizable, thinking of purchasing the Pro version, just what a performance monitoring junky like me needs :D

with side bar, you can un dock the recource application and run it as see- through on your desktop, and you can also make it click through as well.

Sounds pretty cool but still not for me. I run a dual monitor setup so I just put the resource monitoring app on my 2nd monitor. No need for see through or taking up space on my desktop. Also great for monitoring usage during gameplay & various other tasks.
