Trouble overclocking

Post by Ihsahn »

I have a old AMD Athlon 64 3000+(Venice) that i am trying to overclock on the Asrock 9398x-m motherboard. The motherboard box says that this board has lots of overclocking features. The problem is i cant seem to get it to work i tried setting the clock frequency to x10 giving to see if i could get ae a 200Mhz gain with FSB 400 and 1.45 v but it only gives me a 10mgz gain.
Anyone know what i am doing wrong?

try setting your "fsb" higher, start with 220MHz, whilst lowering your HTT multiplier.

LOLz u set the fsb to 400 with a 10 multi.. thats 4000mhz.. u wont get that...

If im not mistaken a Venice 3000+ clocks default is at 1800mhz... So multi should be 200* 9 standard. Leave multi as normal 9, increase fsb in small increments.. 220 will be a good start as hman said, increase vcore slightly drop the ram speeds to 166/333 provided u have ddr 400 ram. u should get 200hmz increase.. and work your way up from there...

I pushed mine to about 2.6 GHz, with a 0.02 Vcore increase (2.4 Ghz with no VCore inrease needed) on stock cooling. My case was very cool so it never went above 50C.

BTW the max temp the venice can run without damage is about 57C , so monitor your temps regulary.
