for the record, considering that it was LinkX chances are it was done in Gimp... but there again, PS CS is just as likely..

The flaming torches can be turned off.

Animated gifs are created in Adobe ImageReady or Gimp. Ive seens some done in flash but the GIF optimisation in flash is horrible. The are various other software package like Gif Workshop etc that also work pretty well.

You mention that you are a designer right? Have you got a link to your portfolio??
