ok, not really sure how to explain this, but i need some kind of software application that can tell what applications are running on our server, open connections etc and can send out messages via email or comething similar when a status changes.

not sure if this kind of stuff is available? any help appreciated...

Lookup a program called spiceworks. Not sure if its exactly what you want, just saw it and looks pretty good. It can monitor open processes, send custom alert and all that. Can even monitor ink on your networked printers apparently

i think spice works is more asset management,but give it a try
