Question about Flash

Post by capanno »

I got flash 8 pro recently. Every month I do a interactive CD Rom for a club, and I am considering doing it in flash instead of mediator. Do I need flash installed on the client computer in order to run the app, or is it possible to make it an executable or something?

Export the movie as a projector (.exe) file

This packages the Flash Player and your project in one.

How good are you in flash?

I would not recommend taking on interactive CD Roms in flash if you are new to it.

Never had issues with projectors or interactive CD Roms. My first one ever was this huge training CD with video and voice overs. Worked perfectly.

Hehe. Thanks, though it seems kinda simple. My minor programming history might come in handy.

Its fun so far. I just have a question. The 3 buttons above are instances in my mainmenu instance. The main menu has an animation that moves it out of the screen. How do I access that animation when there is an on(press) event on one of the buttons. I tried but I know how to use gotoAndPlay in this situation, and I don't think I should.

Also, the buttons animation messes around. If you move the mouse off the button before the short move animation is done, it reverses the process. Moves 'out' on mouse off and 'in' on mouse on. What am I doing wrong?

button code:

on(rollOver){gotoAndPlay("moveout");}
on(rollOut){gotoAndPlay("movein");}

shot

myButton.onRelease = function (){
_root.mainmenu.gotoAndPlay("hidemenu");
}

ideally _root should not be used when working with multiple swfs loading via the loadMovie() command.

Rather use _parent

myButton.onRelease = function (){
_parent._parent.mainmenu.gotoAndPlay("hidemenu");
}
