zergling rush!

one of the benefits of them pulling back on the graphics is the spare power available for AI...

Dragoon Swarm... Or Hydralisk Drops....

But then again, imagine the amount of Carriers you can have... Even Siege Tanks...

300 units is going to make a game last sooooo darn long... Ive seen people play a 3 hour match on 200 pop limit and ended in a draw due to time constraints... Not always fun if you have to sit and wait for the next game, but amazing to witness...

Picture 300 Zerglings and 50 Protoss Templar's doing Lightning Strike... Popping Deluxe...

Apparently there is a WHOLE LOT of new units and a lot of the old units have been replaced keeping the only essential basic units from the 1st game.... even the dragoon has been replaced.... and there might not be any arbies (abitors for the sc challenged :P) for the protoss players out there ;(

I just downloaded the 446 meg gameplay video off the blizzard website and can i say OMG it is 10 times better than the youtbue video, as for the DX10 question and i quote from the Starcraft 2 faq questions page which is http://www.starcraft2.com/faq.xml
Will StarCraft II take advantage of DirectX 10? What other graphical goodies are included?

The game will be compatible with DirectX 10, and we're still considering whether there will be exclusive DirectX 10 graphic effects, but the graphics engine will also be very scalable to ensure that a wide range of different systems will be capable of running StarCraft II. The new engine is also capable of rendering very large units, as well as large numbers of units on screen together. Havok physics have been integrated into the engine for added realism as well

Downloaded the high res video last week. Game looks really amazing with some supreme skill being required to be ultimate. Some of the weakest units can only take out some of the strongest and vice versa... The game will require strategy, not just masses of one type of troop... Good stuff...

I am waiting for this. I truly think it will be a worthwhile multiplayer game. Never really loved the SP too much, but MP was fun fun fun...

Good balance in units, good graphics... Yay...

It really doesnt hurt to add a "s" after a work, that and a "a" makes a sentence in a sense, understandable.

I used to lan this game a lot with my friends, mostly because the AI is extremely skilled... But still, PROTOSS FTW!!!

Ah, the blind leading the blind... grammatically speaking.

Moving away from SC and BW - the new game looks to be even more biased towards the Protoss.
I prefer Terran myself, no boos, please!
And it is very difficult to win a game of SC playing Terran, eve it your opponent is only semi-skilled.

The new installment looks to be just as bias, especially seeing new 'toss units an abilities:

The Zealots 'charge' ability puts them instantly in front of your troops, so no more ranged fire softening a zealots shields before they close for the melee.
Also that new unit, the stalker, or whatever, can walk over any terrain. it moved from low ground to high ground, which is bad news for Terran's who like drop long range units like siege tanks on high ground out of harms way (from other ground units, anyway).
Also, watch the game play guide and you will see a new toss cruiser with what looks like an ion cannon or PPC with cumulative damage as it's main weapon.
4 of those things decimated 3 battleships in a few seconds. Whereas before, a Battleship was the strongest unit in the air - strongest unit in the game IMHO....

Also, one of the annoying things about 'toss was their ability to warp anywhere on the map they had an arbiter. How lovely to start a new expansion only to have an arbie warp a few reavers into the middle of your harvesters. As if that wasn't bad enough, now they can warp units anywhere there is power AND they have flying power generators, so they don't need arbies anymore, just flu one of these things behind a base and warp your armies there. no travel time, no negotiating booby trapped way-points... niks!

Well, we will have to see what new toys Terrans have to play with. the new jump pack marines look fun, but hardly match winning. Better for early exploration than anything else, I assume.

I don't use nukes much against 'toss and zerg - they have too much detection for ghosts to get close to a base.
It's better to spend cash on battleships IMO.

I have to agree with you there, jamin (about Terran). I've always seemed to be comfortable playing Terran. So they're the team for me.

Terran are great. Less micro management that Protoss, also the strongest air force in the game (arguably).

It would be great if they were not so damn weak in the early game and vulnerable to rushes from both races.

A 6 zergling rush in the first few minutes can ruin your game!
