I am not familiar with linux, tried it once and took it off. i need something that is ready to go and works with all my other software.

(not against it, just not prepared to have to learn a whole new OS and alternate apps) :?

@Obituary

Yeah i can buy one, but you can get free versions that do the same.

I don't need all the bells and whistels, i don't need to change the colors of the board or pieces, i just need the game.

I am actually teaching my daughter to play as she has joined the chess class in her school. I need something for her to practice on til i get home from work.

You are never to old to play chess. Its not only a school past time.

@Doomextreme
with reference to your other posts, you don't seem to like to pay for anything either. Do you know of any place i can get a free verion, NOT PIRATE ?

Chessmaster 10 has no support from Ubisoft at all.
I've also got the game and was very disappointed, go to their website
and see for yourself!!

As for online chess, there is a new SA website http://chat.chesscube.com

Or try chesshere.com ,still my favourite :D

For me as long as the game works, is all that matters. Don't really need support.

Would like a no cd patch though, so i don't run the risk of damaging the disk each time i wanna play. Especially as my daughter will be using it and kids don't tend to look after sheet.

Thanks for the link. will sign up and see
