Space in Chassis for 8800GTX?

Post by Belix »

Hey folks
Got a gigabyte 3D Aurora Chassis and Asus Striker Extreme mobo. Will a 8800GTX even fit in my case?

Here's an (admitidly bad) picture of the space with the old 7900GTX in it...

I think you will have trouble fitting a gts in your case. :( Maybe mod it a little

get someone to measure the GTX for you. that should show you if you will have to mod your case to make it fit like Ike said.

NICE setup by the way!!

I'm sure that it would fit inside a P180 if you removed the top hard drive enclosure (which would only be an issue for those with more than four drives).

That list is not so correct...
P160 does fit 8800GTX in single and SLI... I know this because I ran SLI in P160 GTX and GTS... P180 also fits, but Antec 900 doesn't without removing bracket.

Ya the P180 can take sli 8800GTX but then u must remove the hdd from the top bay.Lots of these cases can fit sli 8800GTX,but the second GPU run much warmer. The CM Stacker 830 i think is one of the best to run sli 8800GTX.I have oder one and get it the end of the month. Will let u know if there is a temp change.

What kind of a lie is that?! I build an 8800GTX/P180 system about 3 weeks ago.
That guy that used to mod cases. Now I take photos. True story.

oh fine. See if I try help again :? According to the dood, not without removing the top hard drive enclosure. Oh well. still better check before buying that 8800GTX. Besides you have a dremel. You could make it fit into a cellphone :D

What's the length of a 8800GTS? Is the higher ram version worth the extra dough? Don't suppose there's much point in GTS SLI with a 19" monitor.

It depends at what resolution you are going to play. At lower resolutions there's no speed difference between the 320mb and 640 mb versions. but at higher resolutions the extra ram makes a difference.
