The new PCFormat has landed! And it’s packed with all manner of computer wizardry!

Our desktops are Pushed To The Limit! We find the perfect combination of CPU GPU and RAM for that holy grail of performance – overclocking. Result!

Everything You Need To Know About Cooling: just about everyone goes with air cooling, but how does water cooling stack up? And thermo-electric? We tell you which heat-dispelling method to go for.

GAMES!
Take war-play into the future and go behind the scenes of Battlefield 2142. There’s plenty of gaming goodness to look forward to, like Dark Messiah’s Crusade mode, and news on the upcoming Half-Life: Episode Two and Infernal. There’s an in-depth review on Prey, as well as Pirates Of The Caribbean, Age Of Pirates, Dungeon Siege II: Broken World, Darkstar One, Flatout 2 and Civilization IV: Warlords!

WORKSHOPS!
Pay attention, students! In this issue we get you started on building an island in Oblivion. Then we move onto silencing your PC, before teaching you a few simple ways to speed up Windows. Last but not least: improve any video with Neuview. Full marks!

PLUS!
The secret life of motherboards! And fading memory: are higher latencies a worthy trade-off for faster RAM speed? We review the Intel Core 2 Duo Extreme Edition X6800. In State Of The Art we examine the comeback of early 3D champ, Power VR.

WIN
PC Format is giving away five sets of wicked Philips Sonic Vibes gaming headphones! And there’s a copy of HTML In Easy Steps to be won. Buy the October 2006 issue to find competition entry details. November 2006

It’s our massive 10th anniversary edition! Come celebrate 10 years of computing news and reviews with us in the biggest selling PC magazine in South Africa!

The Hacker’s Guide To Disaster Recovery PC problems needn’t herald electrical Armageddon. We cover coffee spills, your iPod dying, damaged CDs, forgotten passwords, dodgy online security, spontaneously combusting PCs and the Blue Screen Of Death.

What’s Up With Vista? The tweaks keep coming as Vista nears completion, but will the launch slip again? Bill Gates announced that he’s “80 percent sure” it’ll be ready by January.

Top 20 Windows Troubleshooting Tips We banish those all-too-common Windows XP annoyances with a guide to keeping your PC in the best of health.

BIRTHDAY SPLASH!
Check out our brilliant Guild Wars: Nightfall poster with cover babe Sam Katz on the reverse! We’re also giving away R100 000 of prizes, including flash drives, MP3 players, DVD players, a desktop printer, a Lenovo laptop, motherboard, graphics card and loads of software!

GAMES!
PCFormat takes a behind-the-scenes look at Relic Entertainment’s latest real-time strategy title, Company Of Heroes and finds a war-torn Normandy. Read our reviews on Lego Star Wars II, Call Of Juarez, LMA Manager 2007 and El Matador.

HARDWARE!
It’s CPU vs CPU as we put four Intel and four AMD processors through PCFormat’s notorious Supertest. We run the Core 2 Duo range and the 64-bit AM2 chips through the gauntlet.
Our hardware expert reviews the new Gigabyte 965 motherboard, Asus gaming LCD, the Sonic Gear Apocalypse A8 speakers and low-latency gaming RAM.

WORKSHOPS!
Now that we’ve shown you how to create an island in Oblivion, we show you how to build a house as well in this two-part series. In our monthly State Of The Art spot we take a peek at how Microsoft takes on JPEG with Windows Media Photo.

You are wanting some sort of content to be posted to tell others what to expect in the mag?
Do it on a new thread, PM me before you post and I will lock it!

All this gives you the CURRENT issue's content. No offence 'captain obvious', but read the thread before you post.
lancelot wrote:You are wanting some sort of content to be posted to tell others what to expect in the mag?
The main idea was to keep on populating this thread with EVERY month's content. After the fact. Kind of like an archive. As is explained here:

NinjaTic wrote:Hey on this topic, is there a page that has all the content of the DVDs for like the past year?

I remember a while back someone requested that Cameron make like a database of all the stuff that's been on the discs and he said he'd look into it.
Which wouldn't be a bad idea at all!
Even if one of the mods could just paste the stuff from the monthly post into a permanently locked, sticky thread?
Which leads us to:

Brilliant idea!! Wish I thought of it myself!
But won't you be kind enough to maintain it please? Takes only a few minutes and it needs to be done every month. And it would need a mod to do the locking and unlocking.
