October 2006
The new PCFormat has landed! And it’s packed with all manner of computer wizardry!
Our desktops are Pushed To The Limit! We find the perfect combination of CPU GPU and RAM for that holy grail of performance – overclocking. Result!
Everything You Need To Know About Cooling: just about everyone goes with air cooling, but how does water cooling stack up? And thermo-electric? We tell you which heat-dispelling method to go for.
GAMES!
Take war-play into the future and go behind the scenes of Battlefield 2142. There’s plenty of gaming goodness to look forward to, like Dark Messiah’s Crusade mode, and news on the upcoming Half-Life: Episode Two and Infernal. There’s an in-depth review on Prey, as well as Pirates Of The Caribbean, Age Of Pirates, Dungeon Siege II: Broken World, Darkstar One, Flatout 2 and Civilization IV: Warlords!
WORKSHOPS!
Pay attention, students! In this issue we get you started on building an island in Oblivion. Then we move onto silencing your PC, before teaching you a few simple ways to speed up Windows. Last but not least: improve any video with Neuview. Full marks!
PLUS!
The secret life of motherboards! And fading memory: are higher latencies a worthy trade-off for faster RAM speed? We review the Intel Core 2 Duo Extreme Edition X6800. In State Of The Art we examine the comeback of early 3D champ, Power VR.

MOOD - Thirsty
A surprising amount of modern pseudoscience is coming out of the environmental sector. Perhaps it should not be so surprising given that environmentalism is political rather than scientific.

Hmm haven't kept up - sorry.
But won't you be kind enough to maintain it please? Takes only a few minutes and it needs to be done every month. And it would need a mod to do the locking and unlocking.
All this gives you the CURRENT issue's content. No offence 'captain obvious', but read the thread before you post.simmy wrote:Home Page
etc etc
The main idea was to keep on populating this thread with EVERY month's content. After the fact. Kind of like an archive. As is explained here:lancelot wrote:You are wanting some sort of content to be posted to tell others what to expect in the mag?
Which leads us to:doo_much wrote:Which wouldn't be a bad idea at all!NinjaTic wrote:Hey on this topic, is there a page that has all the content of the DVDs for like the past year?
I remember a while back someone requested that Cameron make like a database of all the stuff that's been on the discs and he said he'd look into it.
Even if one of the mods could just paste the stuff from the monthly post into a permanently locked, sticky thread?
Brilliant idea!! Wish I thought of it myself!lancelot wrote: Do it on a new thread, PM me before you post and I will lock it!
