Global Parts - Official terrible distributor of Swiftech

Post by ColonelDebugger »

Okay, so we all read that Global Parts will be distributing Swiftech watercooling in South Africa. Good luck actually buying from them!

Firstly, the web site : It gives no indication whatsoever that Swiftech is to be had.
Secondly, e-mail : I sent a bunch of them this week to Yolani, David and Mike. The only response I got was Yolani who said that she would forward my query to Mike. Oh, and she said that I did indeed reach the right "Global Parts" - I was starting to get serious doubts!
Third, Phoning : Also gets you nowhere. I asked to speak to a sales person - "Eeeh, no. We sell car parts." After patiently listening to my tantrum, he puts me through to Yolani. She is apologetic, but says they couldn't reach me 'cause they didn't have my phone number :?: What about e-mail!!! She puts me through to Mike who, she tells me, is the owner. Mike says he is busy answering my e-mail at that very moment and that I would get a reply within half an hour. Yeah right! I'm still waiting.

Why on earth did Swiftech choose to deal with these incompetents?

This kind of service is starting become a norm with everybody. I cant stand bad service like this.

Maybe email swiftech direct and see what they say.

Also try and forward this post to Global Parts. Maybe that will help.

Post it in the Rants & Raves section on SS> Drevil will get some response from them.

I've done this, but so far no response from Drevil! The post has not been cleared yet.
Will try Swiftech, thanks.

AFAIK Global Parts sells VW car parts, my dad normally buys from them, but they also have a JHB branch.

That is what the sales guy said too. Why on earth are they distributing (allegedly - I still have to see proof) pc watercooling?!

Swiftech make amazing waterblocks. I have one of their blocks and it's really great.

Bummer about this distributor though, we really need some decent watercooling stuff in SA...

Okay, Mike finally got back to me with prices and only a very casual "sorry for the delay" :x Despite me asking, he didn't give me any shipping options or costs. *sighs*

The current pricing is as follows:

ITEM VAT Inclusive

1.Swiftech H-20-Apex R2010.00
2.Swiftech H-20220 R2730.00

I guess 1 is the cpu-only kit (Ultra) and 2 the Ultra+ ?
Unfortunately they only sell kits, not individual parts :( I would rather have bought the Ultra+, but my mobo's northbridge has a heatpipe. Also, the gpu cooler might not fit on the 8800GTS/GTX.

If anyone is interested in the chipset- and gpu blocks only, let me know and I'll order the Ultra+

Now that sucks. What kind of "Official Swiftech Distributor" doesn't sell the blocks?! email them and tell them you want a G4, or an apogee, see what they say.

I already tried that - it's a kit or nothing :(
What about SLi and Crossfire rigs that need watercooling the most? What are you then supposed to do with a single gpu block?! Except, maybe, stick it up Mike's bottom!
And, if they don't keep parts, what will happen if you need to return a faulty bit? :?

Syndicate has come through! Pricing will be the same, but at least I can deal with him instead of Global Parts. Thanks Carl!

Heads up, Head does fit on 8800GTS/GTX.
Just big enough to cover the heat spreader...

Are you sure Neo? The Ultra+ kit is about R600 more expensive than the Ultra and I would hate to end up with a R600 gpu block I can't use...

100% the block does fit but you will need to mod the existing mounts to make it fit or buy the soon to be released adapter so you can mount the standard MCW60 block...
But you don't really have to wait if you don't want you could mod the mounts yourself :)

@ Gouhan : The website is http://www.globalparts.co.za
Good luck if you want to deal with them... Rather buy from Syndicate.
Also, remember they sell kits only.

   Funny man. I am a TOTAL wc noob and the most taxing mod I've attempted is cable sleeving!

Thanks.
nah it's really simple, it's only slight adjustments, it's nothing major and should take you less than 10minutes max :D
