Wisp?
Does anyone know of a Wireless Internet Service Provider who covers the Durban area - preferably the area from Hillcrest down to Cowies Hill? I´ve been searching on the internet but can´t find anything, although there is a rumour that someone in Hillcrest is providing this service I can´t seem to find him. Is there a list I can find somewhere on the net?

What I type has nothing to do with the people that employ me.

Technically disadvantaged area? Soooo! Maybe it´s a wonderful opportunity for some bright, young, technically knowledgeable-but-broke, computer whizzkid to get some sponsors and start up a a service for us?
What would it take to do this? Any ideas? I´m tired of my huge telephone bill.

Dudes I went to Wisp´s website to look for this R500 a month 64k connection. I found to my dismay that it´s not R500 a month but R800 a month for the cheapest 64k connection!
So that means it´s still cheaper to go ISDN with seven rand thing. Suddenly i have the urge to swear. Telkom, I HATE telkom!

So now with that high price, Wisp flies right out the window...

Any wireless ISP needs a radio frequency licence from basically and getting that licence is hectic. read about it. for every connection basically that wisp would do u as the client would need a licence since you r using radio frequency to send packets. dont be fooled. Megawan from Cpae also closed down and a few others! who does wisp think they r! u cannot beat the system. the laws have been in place since 1996.

Dammit! The ´government´ are servants of the people aren´t they? When the hell does a servant tell its employer what they can and cannot do? When its a ´government´, that´s when. Presumably ´civil servants´ have that right. Seems to me the law is an bottom!

Read the forum winged, then _maybe_ you will understand. Actually, on second thought, never mind.
I thought what I'd do was, I'd pretend I was one of those deaf-mutes.

Will wisp be like ADSL and only available in 2005?
Anyway, will you also have a limited size downlaods per month?

Just an idea I had...maybe someone came up with it already!?

TELKOM ADSL HOME USER--512k dwn/256k up
R680.00 pm ex vat and ex ISP service!! I think this is right 24/7.

Okay here is my plan for home users!!

1) Reduce the bandwidth by half from 512k/256k to 256k dwn/128k up, cut the cost in half R340pm ex vat ex Isp, 24/7

2) or 128k dwn/64k up, cut cost again to R170.00 ex vat, ex isp...24/7

I don´t need 512k speed for now ( but it would be nice) 128k/64k is much better than we are getting now and its 24/7 for a smaller per month bill

pls let me know what you think, if this sounds good maybe we could present it to TELKOM!!!

yeah!! maybe
Thanks
