Sound problems

lo again guys...seem to be havin a bad week with my pooter <IMG SRC="images/forum/smilies/icon_lol.gif">
<BR>anyways...i recently got me a copy of dungeon siege...gta3...ghost recon...and hitman 47. and the sound always jams...like in dungeon siege the music hooks...playing the same 2 second clip over and over. and in gta3 whenever someone talks then ithooks. playing, say, 2 words over and over. then i have to alt-tab then it plays the next two words and so on...
<BR>pls help me guys...as i said its not the cd thats bust...they work fine on my buds pooters...
<BR>and other games work fine...like MOHAA and so on have no probs...

oh yeah...i forgot to mention my specs...

<BR>athlon xp 2000+
<BR>256mb ddr sdram
<BR>asus nforce mobo (a7v266-vm or sumthin)
<BR>the onboard geforce 2 that goes with the mobo
<BR>and the onboard sound aswell
<BR>runnin win98se

The most obvious solution to try and solve your problem would be to install the latest drivers for your Geforce card as well as you motherboard.
<BR>Also make sure that you have the latest version of directx8.1 installed. After installation of directx, go to the DirectX diagnostics and run all the tests to see if everything is working fine. <IMG SRC="images/forum/smilies/icon_smile.gif">

Might also be a good idea to update your sound card drivers.
