SQL Server
I don´t know so much about that. I am starting a SQL Database, primarily because it´s robust, and scalable. MY monthly hosting fee went up from R170 - R260 - and that´s all I pay. Only R90 rand more! To me that is cheap. Our rand is also strenthening against the falling dollar, making high speed dynamic hosting very affordable. <IMG SRC="images/forum/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif">

Doesn't look like someone is using it so try posting your question here: http://forums.invisionpower.com/
Sorry but this is the best I can do for you at the moment.

weither you use msde which you will not have the source for the engine, or you use mySql which you will never really have any use of the source makes little difference.
as long as you get done what you intended.
just in terms of mySql it does have some serious drawbacks like no stored-procs or triggers. now where would we be without triggers - maybe it wouldn't take days to figure out how a database works.
any way we all love complexity.

SQL Server 2005 express is free.
The enterprise version is R15k+ and the only real benefits are you can use multiple CPUs and 1GB+ RAM.
