I already tried the Beta. If the beta works on my machine, will the final release work?

Will Vista run on my Barton 2500+?

I suppose it just means I can't run it in 64bit... but it should still run right?

yes a barton 2500+ will be fine if the rest of your machine is also up to scratch. Alot will depend on how much RAM you got as well.

According to inside Info that leaked out on LinuxWatch (Subscibers only)
Mandriva will launch there new version of Mandriva to be compateble with the PC to PS3 interface (file copy). In other words you will be able to play PS2 (not 3) games on your PC with the new Mandriva. The realese will be just after the launch of the PlayStation 3.

I can`t wait.

CNN wrote: Microsoft to delay launch of Windows Vista

Microsoft Corp. said on Tuesday it plans to delay the consumer launch of its much-anticipated Windows Vista operating system to January 2007 from its earlier target of the second half of 2006, sending its shares down nearly 3 percent.

Microsoft plans to launch a product for corporate customers in November and then roll out Windows Vista for consumers after the holiday shopping season, Jim Allchin, co-president of the company's Platforms & Services Division, said on a conference call.

Vista is the first major overhaul of Windows since Microsoft rolled out Windows XP nearly five years ago.

Microsoft said Vista is delayed because it wants to improve overall quality, particularly in security, and that PC makers didn't want the operating system introduced in the middle of holiday sales, because a new version would create instability in the market.

Redmond, Washington-based Microsoft is planning six core offerings of the Vista operating system, targeting how people use computers instead of PC hardware specifications.

Three will be aimed at consumers, two at business users, and a stripped-down version for emerging markets. Unlike the current Windows XP, there will be no versions designed specifically for advanced 64-bit computing, multimedia computers or Tablet PCs.

Windows, which is found in about 90 percent of all computer desktops, is one of Microsoft's biggest cash cows.

I've installed Beta 2 and it looks good, just a bit hungry on resources... on a P 4 3.2 Ghz with 2GB ram it runs fine though

I know nothing about Vista, but shudder to think of all the activation/registering a user would have to do with it!

I can almost picture it now....you insert a new flash disk and *wham*.....u need to re-activate your OS!

As i said long ago, i can't wait for this OS. I'll be at the store to buy it the day it's released.

Also, i need not worry about my PC, as my PC is MORE than good enough for the OS. The first thing i'll do when i have XP installed, is go to the control panel and set all visual effects to "MAX".

Sick did you guys read this article?

Look at this:
Vista works slow even with 2GB of RAM.
And this:
you need up to 800 MB memory just to run Vista
you need 1GB memory just to work in Word or Paint using vista
That's unbelievable...

And this:
We are sure that you will soon be able to buy 4GB gaming kits, at least by the end of the year when Vista gets closer.
Sure, 4GB kits will pop up one of these days, but not everybody can fork out +/- R3500 for a new RAM kit. (gaming RAM at that!)

Dave Winer casts doubt on Dave Richards’s story that Windows Vista is to have 60 percent of its code rewritten: http://www.vistaofficewatch.com/2006/03 ... ent-story/
