3Ds Max7

MM hope this is the right place...

I wanna create some 3d text.

I start with line. I then do the outline shape, of say an S.

when i'm finish with that, wheter i choose extrude, surface, or belvel, it doesnt matter, coss when i add textures, i only get the basic colour and not the detailed texture... can ne one help me plz.. i need to finish something befor monday morning

Try using the modifier UNWRAP_UVW and then adding a texture.
I used to use 3d max 3, but i think it should not be different.

What is a good book to buy to learn 3DS Max.

I really want to get into 3D to compliment my Flash designs but im limited with 3D

Forget about books maxxis. Get over to 3D Buzz and download the free video tutorials. You will really learn a lot.

Just go to your modifier drop down list and select bevel or bevel profile. If you use a straight extrude the shape will have sharp corners.If you want 3d tuts there are a few great resources. 3d total.com, Deathfall.com, cg channel, 3d links, lostpencil.com. That should get you started.

I just got a pm from a very concerned forum member about this.

Im busy dl'ing the vids. Just wish they gave direct http or ftp links. I cant grab them with a dl manager.

You can. When the dl window open I just rightclick on the link and choose 'Download With DAP'.
