I wold go with the amd 2000+ I bought one and am very happy with it! Runs at 53 when Idle thats with some serious cooling! 57 after a week end of gaming! The 400Mhz ram is alot faster! What ever you do don`t ge the 9000 it is not worth the bucks rather get the nVidia Ti or Redoen 9500. Trust me!
Save up if you have to you would`nt want to up grade a week after you bought the machine because you only score 6500 3d marks!

P4 more stable? I have been running an AMD for 5 years (obviously not the same chip) and I have had no problems whatsoever. Another plus about the AMD is that the slot on the mainboard does not change sizes. ( ie p4 needs a really small slot copmpared to the p3 etc. so if you need an upgrade, you don´t need to buy another mainboard.

AMD kick bottom stable reliable fast and afordable!
There is no doubt in my mind you can`t go wrong with amd. Check out the news on the net about the optron it kicks the P4 3.066 and its only a 2.15! AMD rocks.

the money you save going amd will get you a better graphics card therefor better gaming performance. I run ddr333 at ddr400speed saving much money again. to reach ddr400 i bought lifetime warranty ddr333 and have had succes with infineon, mitsubishi and winbond chips. for a board good value is the EPoX 8rda+. it has dual channel ddr400 if you like and mine runs @ 200mhz fsb all the time. you will need a 13micron athlon xp identifiable by a rectangular rather than square core.
