No problem - I've never installed Impi Linux, so I dont even know what steps you followed..
I've had that problem before on SuSE Linux and the solution was to create more space in /var and /tmp. Solved my problem.
Other possibilities that come to mind are hardware issues....like your graphics card.
Is the problem only occuring when you log into the GUI? Are you able to log in via command-line? Are you able to telnet or SSH from a client onto the Linux machine; if its on a network?

i think i know what ur
problem is
there are a couple
if u dont hav sufficient
RAM
if ur swap partition
is to small
or
if ur harddrive cant read/write fast enough
so then ur swap partition can be used because
it cant read/write fast enough
or
this is a long shot
but if it has multiple window manegers
try using a different one to KDE
coz KDE is not the stabelest
and is known for it's blackouts

Good morning guys,
Thanks for getting back to me. my Laptop is a P4 2.0 GHz, though i wished it would have been a AMD, but anyways.
Yesterday, sunday i formatted my whole laptop and then installed impi linux all over again and it worked fine, so i think it could of been a problem with selecting the right amount of space for the install.
I need to ask you guys, if you guys know where i can get a partion software, which has a gui interface, so that i re-install windows and partion windows and then go again and re-install linux?
Thanks

Hi,
Glad to hear you got it working. You can use Partition Magic 6, 7 or 8 to do what you need to do on XP or Win2k. Any earlier versions only support Win9x.
You can get a trial version from http://www.soft32.com/download_151.html

Well, the best tutorial would be to actually play around with it. If you're using KDE, then its very similar to Windows. The more you use it, the more you will get used to it...
Hang around some linux forums (you can google for them as I dont want to post other forum names here)....read some of the questions and answers, you will learn heaps from doing that.
I say one of the best ways to get familiar with Linux, is to try to find and install Linux equivalents to the Windows programs you use. Installing will be a b!tch at first, but you will soon get used to it.
I just google'd now and found this site : http://www.linux-tutorial.info/
Check it out , I dont know how good the content is...

Great.
This Impi Linux has half the features of all the others, but anyway, here's my prob.
I want to install my nVidia drivers.
1.How on earth do I log in as root, it says it won't let me.
Okay, but I got around that by going into the super user mode console.
2. When I type "init 2", the pages just keeps scrolling down and nothing happens!
WTF?!?
3. Once the drivers are installed, where do I change the card. i.e. Where is impi's "device manager"?

Significantly different from a normal waking beta wave state!
Dont know much about the GUI in Impi as I've never used it.
As for your root account.....All distros i've installed prompt you to enter a root password at install-time....
You should then be able to log in as user "root" with the password you specified at install-time..
Just thing though....In all versions of Linux I've used.....if you not logged in as root and try to start up the super-user console....it will prompt you for the root password. If it does'nt then you probably logged on as a user with root privilages...
Are you sure this is not the case?
