GeForce 4 Ti 4200 vs Ti 4200 8x AGP

Post by Phate »

I have just set up a new rig and I went through a lot of trouble to make everything support 8x AGP (mb+3D card) Is AGP 8x much better and was it worth it ?

What r your thoughts and where can I find benchmarks of the two cards against each other ??

According to the general posting public at http://www.futuremark.com 8x AGP only offers 1-2% performance increase over 4x AGP at the moment, and 5-6 3D Mark points.

GeForce 4 Ti 4200 vs Ti 4200 8x AGP

I work in a computer shop and we recently had to set up a system which supported a 8X ti4200. Firstly the card ran SLOWER than the 4X for some reason (it was a Leadtek Winfast G4 on a GA-7VAXP) and the card was getting awefully hot. We ended up using a regular Ti4200 instead which worked perfectly.

I had the exact same problem as you same MB and graphics. Rectron sujested that the card was not the probem but MB so i swoped it for a KT400, it seems to work fine but it runs dam hot and over heats!
I built the exact same system (ga 7kml MB( and a MSI geforce ti 4200 card it runs like a dream and ice cold 2 only 42C! I think there is something wrong with the LEADTEK cards!

I hope you got that on 3Dmark 2003, and not 2001 because if 2001, then there´s something seriously wrong with your system.
