Deleting files at booting

Post by SoulBlade »

I've got an infected file (RA_autoseller.dll with Keylogger.trojan).
Problem is, my AV software can't clean/quarantine it. I also cannot delete it since access to it is denied.

I was thinking of deleting the file while XP boots. Kinda like running the bat script files during Win 95/98 booting.

Can someone help, please (in removing the file)?

Thanx in advance

Boot your PC up with an XP boot cd, then go into the recovery console when prompted. Delete the file.

Hey Sojourn.

Last I tried deleting files from the console it told me that I don't have permission to do so.

PS. Do you know of any sites giving extensive info 'bout the console?

Thanx!

Try this:

1. Boot up normally
2. Start, Run, type "msconfig", enter
3. Select the second option under "General" tab which is "Diagnostic Startup"
4. It should prompt you to reboot
5. Reboot
6. Browse to the file
7. Try delete it
8. Empty recycle bin
