Post by RVFmal »

Could someone please explain how to install Ubuntu on an existing system running XP home?

The PC I ma trying to install it on hase Windoes XP Home already installed on the 10 Gig partition of a 20 Gig HDD. There are 2 further partitions of 5 Gig each one of which is used to load programs.

This is a project PC so I want to install Ubuntu on the 2nd of the 5 Gig partitions so that I can learn how to operate a linux system without having to forgo what I am used to.

If you have XP already installed on you MBR just install Ubuntu on what ever partitioned drive you want, Ubuntu gives you the option to chose which drive you want to install it on and to dual boot your system. Just follow the instructions.

Ah. Didn't want to do anything for fear of wiping what I already have off the HDD. Will give it a bash.
