*****TY PRICES!

Post by amock »

over the past 6 months i have upgraded my pc serveral times, and on each occasion i´ve had the ring ripped out of me. this can be attributed to my lack of a credit card and therefor my inability to buy over the net, but this should not prevent me from purchasing ´well´ priced goods.

i´m sick and tired of commercial stores like incredible connection and computer mania ripping me off, so could anybody tell me where i can get affordable pc parts (first or second hand) in the greater cape town region.

Slightly off topic here. But I sympathise with you. A while back (last year) I went to Incredible corruption, I mean connection and asked for a price on a 128 Mb Dimm and was told R699, I mean are they mad, when the shop around the corner in the same shopping center was selling them for R256.

I bought the 128 Mb Dimm for R256 from the other shop and thought it was a good price, 1 week later, lo and behold the same shop was selling them for R168!!!! I nearly fell over.

A few months ago I bought a Aopen 24x10x40 CD-RW for R1299 and again thought it was a good price. 1 Month later, guess what, yessssssssss the same shop selling Aopen 40x12x48 CD-RW´s for about R1000!!!

R.S.A is in a rediculous state of affairs, I mean petrol is going to be R4.09 / l on wednesday!!! Come on people (those in charge) stop lining your pockets with our money, you are killing our country!!!

hey eagle

the problem with pc hardware is that it quickly becomes obslete and and what you bought for R200 a week ago you can now buy for R150. There was also a problem a while ago when ram went vry high and then started dropping.
dunno about the cd writer, best to do is when you see something nu then just wait for a week or 2 when the price goes down (sneeky huh!!!).

Go to local privately owned computer shops. They are the cheapest. Or look for local SA online stores.

in reply to that question if one stays in cape-town the most competitive commercial shop is cafejava in the atrium in claremont, there prices are almost cost price and sometimes below you can even build your own pc from them, cos they stock all the parts check them out or go to cafejava.co.za to see their prices
