Re: Home icon on desktop

Here you go:

It depends on whether you've got Gnome or KDE, either way try the <A> solution, if it's not possible to do, then try the other. One of them is bound to work.

<A>
1. Right-click anywhere on your desktop and select "Create Launcher".
2. Type Home in the name section.
3. Type /home/user_name (replace user_name with your actual user name) in the command section.
4. Select "Link" from the dropdown-list just below the command section.
5. This is optional, click on the icon in the same dialog, another dialog will open up with images, select one and this will be your icon.
6. That's it!

<B> This is for KDE:
1. Right-click anywhere on your desktop and select "Create New > Link to location (url)".
2. A dialog will open
3. Enter "Home" as the filename.
4. Enter /home/user_name (replace user_name with your actual user name) as the url.
5. Close the dialog, all done!
6. If you want to change the icon, right-click the shortcut and select properties, when the dialog pops-up, click on the icon and do as in step 5 in <A>.

If you need more help, just ask...
