AOpen Geforce 4 MX-440

Post by -ASSASSIN- »

Can anyone help? I am planning to upgrade my SLIGHTLY outdated ATI Rage 16mb to an AOpen Geforce 4 64mb MX-440. As i am on a tight budget this card seems optimal though i have read mixed reviews about it, so i want to know if i am wasting my time.

Also, what kind of a performance increase should i expect on a PIII 600 MHz system?

Hi

I got the aopen 64mb geforce 4 mx440 with an 850 duron.

The card isn´t that much quicker as my old geforce 2 mx.

But it´s a nice card and you can overclock it full noise, with no stability problems.(Just stick a fan on the heatsink)

I can run all the new game at 800x600 with all the bells and whistles on.

UT2003 runs sweetly.

From your ATi Rage (tnt2 equivalent) there will be a big jump in performance.

Satan is right about the mx440, it is pretty good, but an upgrade would be due in another six months! The mx440 struggles with Unreal2 and No One Lives Forever 2, but these are pretty graphic intensive. I would Rather save up for a Ti4400 or even Ti4600 (although the latter are a bit expensive).
