I had an old PIII that I was fixing (replacing the HDD)
You could change the core voltage of the CPU in the BIOS. It was set to 2.02v or something like that when I got it. Maxed it out to 2.25v (I think). Rebooted and it worked fine for a few days.
Then a week later my aunt called to say it went dead while my cousin was playing WC3.
Went to have a look and switched it on. Processor fried.
Just out of interest, whats the quickest way to fry a CPU?
I was thinking of putting jumper cables on my car battery and snapping the other + and - clips on a CPU. Would that do the trick?
